Kat: Congrats and do enjoy. Strap in good and take a deep breath because home ownership is a hell of a ride! Best of luck in the new domicile and may your house alway reek of other people's coal. Neil

Only if you admit it has taken years off me, now that it is done and over, Amergin!

Artbrooks...LOL...those water rights are inDEED part of the deed! And, even though we only use it part of the year, I understand we will be billed all year round! On the purple, oh yes, we will save a smidgen for some laughs later on. BUT, I don't like the sounds of the grey carpet at all, so I don't think even a scrap of it will survive!

I had seen the old wallpaper thing done in a house in New England. Someone had renovated an old Victorian, framed and matted a beautiful old scrap of really old wallpaper and hung it in the dining room. Really a neat idea.

Rog has now been in there two nights and gave me a detailed, "walking tour" via his cellphone. Looks as though there are hardwood floors under the ugh-lee carpet and nice wood under the poi-pole paint, too, so looks like the summer will be spent stripping, refinishing, etc. I knew there was some reason we both were almost addicted to the Home and Garden network! Now we get to try out some of those tricks of the trade!

Thanks, again, everyone.

Congratulations, Kat!!! Do try to save a little bit of the purple, and a souvenir of anything else that takes forever to get rid of. I spent most of a month removing a room's worth of wallpaper last fall when we moved...with the guaranteed "one step and its gone" remover...and we framed and hung a 2" square piece (one of the larger ones, as it happens). Best of luck, AND MAKE SURE THOSE IRRIGATION RIGHTS ARE IN THE DEED!!

Art

Sure, Mortee!! You and everyone can charter a plane, right?!

Ya know, Amergin, I've decided if I ever write

romance novels
I am going to use "Kat Darling" as my nom de plume and blame it all on you!**BG**

LOL, Susan...it's been the Purple Age all of my adult life, but not for my furnishings! I like the idea of leaving a small patch, though!

Sandy, good! Glad they got there so quickly and that you are enjoying them. Sorry I've not answered back by email with the radical notion. Still *cookin'* and YES! Plan that trip now, eh?!

Amergin...aren't you going South?**BG**

Sorcha, not sure, probably the last weekend of the month, but it will depend on when my sister and Rog can coordinate their work schedules. I'll give you a call or email as soon as I know, okay?

Thanks everyone!

Sounds great, Kat'leen. We'll plan a visit on our next drive west. I want to see those bedroom bookshelves! CARE packages arrived yesterday, by the way. The encyclopedic volumes will surely prove helpful to me. I've been reading the "pop" music volume like a history. Thanks, m'luv.

Sandy

Just about the time you get done stripping and refinishing those cabinets, you'll hit the Purple Age and wish they were back to purple. Suggest you leave all or part of one cabinet front purple, maybe attach a picture frame over a patch of it... just to remind yourself that your Purple Age awaits you!

~Susan

The ink is dry! Rog and I finally own our own home, again, for the first time since 1983 when we sold the old "ranch" out on Poison Spider Road!

Several of you have been reminding me to breath and been *virtually* holidng my hand while going through this very scarey, frustrating, elating, stressFULL process. A couple of you have been there, on a daily basis and then some! Whenever any of you told me to not forget to BREATH and try to keep on an even keel, I was reminded of lamaze coaching and the he-he-he-hooo breathing to get through contractions!**BG**

Anyway, THANK YOU!!!!! We did it!! We've got our own little patch of Colorado and I now know a little bit of what it must've felt like for my ancestors when they first staked out their bit of Colorado, too, although we didn't get the acreage they did!:-)

I have rosebushes and a picket fence that needs painting in the front yard; huge cottonwood trees in front and back; irrigation water rights, very important in the dry West; built-in bookshelves in the two bedrooms; big windows; huge linen closet; and a huge backyard all fenced in with a garden area fenced separately.

Rog has been spending his weekends wandering around Home Depot and other stores of the like, looking at siding, a priority, and other little "bells and whistles" for the ideas we have of what we'd like to do with it. It is a squat, rectangular little home, which would lend itself well to flowerboxes under the windows, shutters, and that narrow board siding like the old colonial houses in New England have, but there are other ways in which it would "spruce up" well, too.

The other priority is the kitchen cupboards. You'll laugh! Some renters painted them purple! I haven't seen what shade, but Rog assures me they can be stripped back to their original nice wood finish! Ya know, purple is one of my favourite colours, but NOT on my kitchen cupboards!!LOL

Anyway, THANKS, again, for being there, for listening to me whine, rant, doubt, cry, laugh, etc. Now comes the easy part: moving our already packed up stuff, the six cats, one dog, various houseplants (large) and me from Wyoming to Colorado!!

luvya'll...kat
