Subject: RE: BS: new member From: tar_heel Date: 25 Sep 02 - 08:05 PM hi jim and a big welcome from the tarheel state!!!!(north carolina) it's called the tarheel state because during the civil war, north carolina was a big producer of tar and turpentine....and,it seems a bunch of northern soldiers were chasing some rebel soldiers from the north carolina regiment and the rebels were making a good pace ahead of the union guys...the union soldiers yelled out to "put some tar on their heels,to slow them down!"...and of course when general lee heard about this story,he commented,"god bless them tarheels!"...and now you know the rrest of the story!!!Welcome Aboard!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: new member From: GUEST,Calumny Date: 20 Sep 02 - 11:14 PM In reviewing past historical contributions, it appears that this person called Cat Spaw -- whatever that might mean -- has frequently felt moved to talk about his (I believe it is a he) physical endowment, prowess, and gastrointenstinal condition. If it is not inappropriate to ask, can someone tell me if this gentlemen is sane or not? He seems quite persverant in his obsession to expose himself, metaphorically speaking. Thanks in advance, Calumny |

Subject: RE: BS: new member From: John MacKenzie Date: 20 Sep 02 - 04:34 PM Sheepless in Seattle indeed!! How do you think we felt in the highlands of Scotland, when the Rolling Stones sang, "Hey McLeod, get off my ewe"? I come from a small village with a population of 620. It has been 620 souls for the last 200 years. Perhaps it's because every time a baby is born, somebody leaves town. Failte....Giok |

Subject: RE: BS: new member From: Amos Date: 19 Sep 02 - 12:02 PM Catspaw is fond of taking advantage of these New Member threads to boast about his old member; but you gotta ask, if it is functioning as well as he claims, how come he is always bringing it up? Just to prove he can? I think Little Hawk has his measure. A |

Subject: RE: BS: new member From: catspaw49 Date: 19 Sep 02 - 10:25 AM Hi Jim and Welcome to the 'Cat. WE have quite a few members out your way, both in Seattle and in the Northwest as well. They have had several Mudcat gatherings and it's a great group of some terrific folks. If they don't check in here, start a thread titled "Looking for Seattle Members" or Northwest US Members or something to that effect. As far as the "new member" goes, I'm quite satisfied with my old member which is still functioning pretty well. Spaw |

Subject: new member From: jim100_1 Date: 19 Sep 02 - 02:56 AM Hello everybody. My name is Jim, and I am a brand new member of what seems to be a great website. Are there any members here from the Seattle, Washington area? I have just moved to Seattle close to two months ago. I understand it is a wonderful place to listen to a lot of folk and Blues music. I enjoy folk music a lot; although, I am somewhat new to the genre. I've only been into it big time a few years, but I learn a lot every day and really hope to talk to folks who share this interest with me. I am also a beginning guitar player who is now learning to play for the sheer enjoyment of playing music. Again, hopefully I will be able to correspond with people sharing the same interest. I look forward to getting to know several of you and to be a general part of mudcat. Feel free to email me or send me any messages, and I will be glad to respond. Again, if there are any folks from the Seattle area, I'd definitely love to hear from you. Take care, Jim |
