Subject: Question re: One Sunday Evening From: Coyote Breath Date: 23 Sep 02 - 12:15 AM I have a recording of Gail Fratar singing a lovely song titled One Sunday Evening. I wonder about the meaing of a line in it. One Sunday evening It happened here of late. As I was a rambling, Hard was my fate. I went to my love's window Expecting to get in And instead of my great pleasure My troubles then begin I waited the hour As patiently as Job I saw that my name was Not upon the cord I saw there was another Enjoying my room So I took to the road By the light of the moon It's the line: "I saw that my name was not upon the cord." Does antone have an idea of what that refers to? I think the fellow's "love" is a prostitute but I can't figure the cord (or chord?) part. Thanks CB |
