From: open mike Date: 07 Oct 02 - 01:05 AM yes i have not been to the "cafe'" here for a while and i noticed a bunch of changes--including the translation thing-y. hooray for the new and improved mud cat--thanks!! and thanks for breaking up the longer posts-- i am one of the slow machine folks--or slow connection folks and scrolling thru hundreds of posts can be tedious.. i often wonder why people even post on some things ,, like: "practice only, just ignore", and then you find ga-zillions' of replies--guess some of us have too much time on our hands?? |

Subject: RE: Tech: meaning of blue asterisk underlined #'s? From: Sorcha Date: 07 Oct 02 - 12:45 AM Yes, Joe, I did explore the Quick Links drop down. That is where I discovered the e mail/profile pages and the Old Forum Search, which still works best for recent postings. I'm sure there is still stuff I haven't discovered. (hint, hint.....grin) |

Subject: RE: Tech: meaning of blue asterisk underlined #'s? From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Oct 02 - 12:38 AM Pene (Jeff) and I are waiting for people to discover things. There are lots of new features nobody has said anything about, so I imagine most people haven't discovered them. I suppose we could have complicated guides and instructions, but most of our features are self-explanatory. You just click on the link, and see what it does. On this very page, there are dozens of links to explore - have you tried them all? Most are the familiar, underlined blue-clicky, but there are lots of links in the dropdown quicklinks menu, and across the banner at the top of the page. The links won't harm you or your computer, and they won't harm Mudcat. Click around, and see what you can find. Thnaks, Jeff, for all your wonderful work. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: BS: meaning of blue asterisk underlined #'s? From: Sorcha Date: 07 Oct 02 - 12:11 AM What? Where? Links are blue and underlined......links, aka blue clickies/blickies. OH..... never mind. I get it. It is to get to the "pages" function so that only 50 messages load at once and you can "turn the page" to the next 50. |

Subject: RE: BS: meaning of blue asterisk underlined #'s? From: JohnInKansas Date: 07 Oct 02 - 12:11 AM The blue asterisk on the number of posts means that the post has reached the length where it is broken into "pages" for easier viewing by people with slow machinery. If you click on the thread name, you still get the whole thread. If you click on the blue "number with asterisk" you get the first page, with a clicky on that page to go to the next and subsequent pages. I think??? John |

Subject: RE: BS: meaning of blue asterisk underlined #'s? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 07 Oct 02 - 12:09 AM If a thread is more than 50 posts long it is now broken up into "pages". The first 50 posts is a page. Then the second 50, etc. If you can click on the number instead of the name you can open just the page you want to look at instead of the whole thing. |
