Subject: "Using quotes in a thread" From: murray@mpce.mq.edu.au Date: 06 Jun 98 - 08:37 PM This is by way of experiment. There seems to be some problem when people use quotes (") in the "subject" of their posting. The name of the quotation symbol is " (Just as the name of the left angle bracket is <). What I wrote in the subject box was: "Using quotes in a thread"
As with all SGML (and hence HTML) documents if the name of a symbol is followed by a space or another special symbol (such as &) then you can leave out the trailing semi-colon. A line break made with "enter" counts as a space. |
