Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: GUEST,Boab Date: 17 Nov 02 - 02:39 AM As soon as the Lady awakes, tell her that Boab is glad to have tracked her to her lair!! Just mention the big skinny guy who met her one day years back when she lived in Irvine---it was in the park, and poor wee Marilyn had a vicious laryngitis [and a basket of blackberries, if I remember rightly] and this grey-heidit character had a basket of mushrooms. I managed to persuade her that day to take some and try them---did she ? Ach!--I'll e-mail; the Lady anyway!! |

Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: GUEST,Boab Date: 16 Nov 02 - 03:47 AM She did a crackin' job of "Bedlam Boys are Bonnie" on one cassette. I think the "Man in the Moon" was in the same package. |

Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: Rick Fielding Date: 15 Nov 02 - 12:41 PM Jeez Harvey I didn't know that. Heather and I met Marilyn in a folk club in York, on our honeymoon 14 years ago. She sang some Mike Smith songs, and a plaintive ballad called "the Man In The Moon" that I loved. Rick |

Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: Dita Date: 15 Nov 02 - 10:56 AM Marilyn played the Star in Glasgow, about six months ago, her only folk gig in years, she said. Sandy Stanage, who was also a member of Scotland Yard, along with MMP and Ian Bruce, came down from Fife as a surprise, and ended up doing all the second half with her, as well as the floor spot he'd agreed to do to do. Since her marrage to Steve she works on the Jazz scene as Marilyn Mellor. She was sounding and looking good, same old Marilyn, and enjoyed playind catch-up with her West Coast (of Scotland) friends. love, john. |

Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: harvey andrews Date: 15 Nov 02 - 07:30 AM Marilyn is married to Steve, they live in Malvern and have a bed and breakfast business. She stood in for Rick Fielding on a concert in Stafford recently and did a great job for us belting it out as well as ever and giving us a couple of Stan Rogers songs. |

Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 15 Nov 02 - 04:10 AM I think Marilyn moved to the English Midlands and I think she now predominantly preforms blues and Jazz as opposed to folk, their gain is our loss |

Subject: RE: Marilyn Middleton-Pollok From: GUEST,MCP Date: 15 Nov 02 - 04:05 AM She's still playing over here, often in conjunction with clarinet player Steve Mellor, or as a trio (with Grant Baynham on guitar) called It's The Girl (album Stuff, IIRC, released last year). I also have a feeling she's booked at breezy's club soon. Mick |
