Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mississippi Delta Blues From: Tweed Date: 22 Nov 02 - 05:59 AM That IS normal service over at Harry's these days. If I get lucky, I'm able to get in there and snag as many songs as I can before getting the boot. Harry's still on hiatus I guess, but he built one heck of a website for blues lyrics and info. Keep trying, it's worth the trouble once you're in. Tweed |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mississippi Delta Blues From: Brian Hoskin Date: 22 Nov 02 - 05:14 AM Yes Roger, you're right, I didn't go further than the first page before I posted the link. I only hope that this is just a temporary hiccup and that normal service will be resumed shortly. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mississippi Delta Blues From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 22 Nov 02 - 05:03 AM Thanks, Brian, that's the one I had but seems to be always "exceeding its bandwidth" when I try the index. RtS |

Subject: Lyr Add: MISSISSIPPI BLUES (William Brown) From: Brian Hoskin Date: 22 Nov 02 - 04:47 AM MISSISSIPPI BLUES As recorded by William Brown a.k.a. Willie Brown
1. Goin' down to the Delta, where I can have my fun.
2. Don't the Delta look lonesome when that evenin' sun goes down? [Spoken]: Boy, I was lookin' all over town for her, you know dat?
3. Goin' back to my used-to-be, although that she have done me wrong. [Spoken]: Ain't that a cryin' shame? 'Cause I started to think about her a whole lot o' times, and she way down Mississippi, and here I am up here!
4. She treats me dirty, but I love her just the same. [Spoken with instrumental]: They better not do that!
5. Now goodbye, I'm gon' leave you, an' I won't be back no more. |

Subject: Lyr Req: Mississippi Delta Blues From: alanabit Date: 22 Nov 02 - 03:52 AM I have been looking for the lyrics to this one for a while and my search skills are not up to finding it in the DT. It may be an old Blind Blake song, but it sounds more bluesy than ragtime. I think the first line of the version I want is, "I'm going down to the Delta - I can have my fun." It's a nice, slow blues in the key of A played in twelve eight - and I admit with great embarrassment to learning it from the dots in a Stefan Großmann book instead of the proper "folk" way. Who can help me? |
