Thanks Helen, actually I found the same after you suggested Google. Truthfully, I have found many songs for many Mudcat guests looking for info by using Google. But, with lack of reasons, I failed to search Google for the info I wanted!

No ":-)" needed, Helen. I took it for granted!

Khandu,

Search term used on Google:

"I know what you're doing" lyrics

I Know
Dionne Farris

I know what you're doing yeah yeah
I know why you dialed my number
I know what you're doing yeah yeah
I know why you care

I know what you're doing yeah yeah
I know why you say you love me
I know what you're doing yeah yeah
And I don't think it's fair

I know why you dialed my number
I know why you say you're mine
I know what you're doing,

And it's not, gonna work, this time (2)

Khandu,

Sorry for being facetious. I should have added a ;->

It's not Shania Twain is it? As I said, I'm terrible at hearing, let alone remembering lyrics, but this rings a bell with me re: Shania.

gargoyle, I haven't used DogPile for quite a while, but as I recall it is one of the better search engines. Google now searches .PDF/Adobe Acrobat files as well, now.

A woman/man is only as good as their search engine. (and/or their desire to use it)

Match your google.... and do you one better...dogpile.com....hey the dogpile get's me in the mudcat when ALL other avenues are blocked...aka..... loki, sam, and ragtime.....

Taught at least one of these meowing "folks" about anonymizers, unless they want a black-list on ALL search engines, blocking URLS will diminish the waist.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Helen and Jack PLEASE>>>>stick around...we NEED more music people

BTW, Alanis ain't nuthin' like Pearl Jam. She's, ahhh, a female and Eddie Veddar ain't. But they are both good.

I tried to make this point on another thread (Neil Young, whatever...)that alot of the grunge rockers are no more than *loud* folk singers. Yeah, I listen to and buy a lot of the *kids* because, hey, stripe awy some Db's and it's us 30 years ago...

Nevermind.....

Well, she says modestly, as she kicks the dust, it's Google.com which deserves the Kudos, and Max and Mudcat for being here to provide access, not only to resources we can refer people to but also to the incredible brains trust residing here, and the result, i.e. the Digital Tradition database and the Forum.

But thanks!

And I love the poem, gargoyle - kind of The Librarian's Motto??

BTW hon2usa,

It works better onthe Forum if you create a new thread with a clearly identifiable title e.g. Songs: Western movement after civil war

GUEST, Jake:

Hark, brother. The song that you have bouncing around in the old squash is entitled "One Hand in my Pocket". It's by Alanis Morisette from the "Jagged Little Pill" CD.

Darned good stuff. The gal lets it all ahng out...

Helen!!!!!
I think you called it--why would someone who isn't only or exclusively interested in whatever folk exactly is, ask here? Because this is where the smart folk hang. When I'm smart enough, I'd like to be a member.

Bill - given the pathetic core - of current postings - I personally, welcome ANY sort MUSICAL question.....Joe gave me a reminder in another thread about the MC roots...in folk.

Once, I was, likewise, in your shoes.

On the other hand, I also catch a wiff of sardonic wit .... eminating from one who is sometimes, less than serious.

KUDOS Hellen!!!

-

They said it couldn't be done
But, she with a chuckle replied,
That maybe it couldn't
But she would be one,
Who wouldn't say so.... till she tried.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Sure hope Jake checks back in....we have had a suspicious number of GUEST postings and re-threads............without which............most of the musical aspects of the MC would be dead.......I have a vague fear that someone, (Joe?) is desperately behind the scenes, treading water in the deluge of non-folk, trying to keep the mudcat's music aspect afloat.

Subject: Lyr Add: SOFT (Dudley Taft; Second Coming)
From: Helen
Date: 23 Nov 02 - 08:32 PM

Hi again,

Did a search on Google.com with the search term using the double quotes:

"hands in my pockets" lyrics

Came up with this one called Second Coming by Soft, or is it the other way around?

nosmiles's Music Page

http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/lyricness/lyrics/soft-secondcoming.htm

I live to fly on a natural high
My love is growing softly to the sky
The lovers hors d'oeuvre for the evening to come
The camera still runs and we see you

Yeah, I was soft for the first time
Now content to breathe so deeply
Yeah, got my hands in my pockets
Burn, burn, burn

I didn't look at any more of the search results apart from this one so if it isn't the right one try searching Google.

Helen

Maybe it's because, as a community, we are so darn clever at identifying lyrics and/or finding good sources answers.

Love Pearl Jam, and Nirvana is good too, for the music, but can't understand any of the lyrics - am too right brained (music-oriented & visual) to focus on lyrics for long unless they are written down.

why is this question even being asked here? It says "folk music" on the door....(I really DO try to not comment on these, but now and then one is so far off track I can't contain myself)

Sorry, I don'tknow any words to songs from these groups. Here's one with a lyrics archives for Pearl Jam

http://www.pearljamnetwork.com/

One for Nirvana

http://www.ludd.luth.se/misc/nirvana/

And one for Puddle of Mudd

http://www.puddleofmudd.fr.st/

Other than that, I don't know if we can help. I think they're all doing work way out of our usual genres.

it was late 90's, the radio played it alot. It was kind of slow and had a male singer. The vocals sounded kinda like Pearl Jam/Nirvana/ Puddle of Mudd. It had a lot of 'yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah's throughout the song, like every other line. I remember after 1 yeah it said something about 'hands in my pockets..' or something. I know this is vague. The 'chorus' sounded something like 'dont touch my friends'?...
