Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving From: Mudlark Date: 28 Nov 02 - 02:02 AM Guest, guest...Widow Mudlark here, wishing you a happy TG and also inviting you to my table. May not be bounteous, but defintely not "to go!" I'm not all that fond of turkey, but there will be lots of stuffing and cranberry sauce... Actually, come the day after, as I'll be off singing at convalescent homes tomorrow...it is shocking how few family visit on this, the most family-ish of days. Happy Thanksgiving to all.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving From: GUEST,Guest Date: 28 Nov 02 - 01:41 AM Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'm alone now & just have to tell this: Neighbor wanted to know if I'd like to take a plate over to his house and have it filled. I wrote a note:The Widow Jones wishes to express her gratitude for your offer. For her to appear with plate in hand, whilst your family is seated around a bounteous table, is just a shade too Dickensian. I'm still not over it! Peace. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Thanksgiving From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 27 Nov 02 - 09:45 PM And a Happ-y Thanksgiving to you, my friend... one of many things I have to be thankful for. I suspect every Catter has had bleak periods in their lives where it was hard to see their way forward. I know I have. If I'd have known my life would be this good, I could have saved a lot of worry. Getting here was the hard part, but I've "seen the elephant." That's an old phrase from settlers who made it west. Don't know exactly how it originated (although I bet Masato does.) It means, basically, that I've seen a lot of things that I never could have imagined, and I got through them. Like all of us. Many have had it far harder than I have, and maybe one or two, slightly easier. Looking back, I realize that I would have been grateful just for this moment. Having a beautiful home, a beautiful loving wife, good health, music, Mudcat and most of all, a faith that helped me get through the dark times. This moment would have been enough. Until of course, you have it. I think I'll enjoy a few more. For all who have "seen the Elephant," enjoy the blessings of this moment. And Thanksgiving Day, too. Jerry |
