I just noticed Judy's original post is dated 1998! Is anyone else interested?

I can try... 'AURTcho tippEa a SAYaskanDAGHo' is sort of how to pronounce the first line, is that what you mean? I don't have time to do the rest now but will come back and do so soon. I have loads of Basque music, my boyfriend recorded 2 albums with a Basque singer

This is the only Basque song I know. It has a lovely tune but I'd need a transliteration of the words before I'd dare try to sing it. Anyone in your group? Can you post any other Basque songs?

I was in Pamplona for San Fermin in about 1975-6. It was great fun, I especially enjoyed the music and bought a Txistu. My husband and I went to Brittany in 1983 to a festival and heard a large chorus sing accompanied by dancers. They did a few numbers accompanied by seashells which they held one in each hand and clapped together. The group may have been from the Basque region or Andalusia. Does that ring any bells? I love Andalusian music too, do you know if that can be obtained anywhere on the web?

Haurtxo Tippia

Haurtxo tippia a seaskandago
Zait iduri aingerua, lo.
Haurtxo tippia a seaskandago
Zait iduri aingerua, lo
Ene maitia, ene pottolo,
Egina guzu, lo!

Xakur aundia etorriko da
Zuk ez baduzu egiten, lo
Xakur aundia etorriko da
Zuk ez baduzu egiten, lo
Ene maitia, ene pottolo,
Egina guzu, lo!

enjoy!
