Subject: RE: BS: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: Mark Cohen Date: 02 Jan 03 - 04:39 AM In the classic words of Bizarro-Lois to Superman, "Me glad you am sad, because if you am sad, that mean you am happy!" Some people just have what I call "CPO syndrome": Chronically Pissed Off. Happy New Year! Aloha, Mark |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: CarolC Date: 01 Jan 03 - 06:40 PM I know what you mean GUEST Festive season Yuk. This year was better for me than most years though, and how about this for a birthday... 01/02/03? (According to the US style of abbreviating dates.) I'm getting a pretty big kick out of it. I bet there are very few people in the world who will ever have such perfection on their birthday abbreviations. It's like winning the lottery only without the money. |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: CapriUni Date: 01 Jan 03 - 06:35 PM Well, yuk, if it will make you happy, I'll wish you an unhappy year... Um... that doesn't look quite right... The truth is, I really do wish joy and happiness for all, because I don't like meeting sullen crabs when I go out into the world (though I don't mind meeting jolly crabs at the beach) -- they tend to yell at me, and get impatient that I'm different from them. Happy, joyful people just make my life easier. Does that make me selfish? If so, so be it. At least I'm honest about my intentions. |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: GUEST Date: 01 Jan 03 - 06:24 PM The alternative to Christmas and New Year's is not being around to celebrate them anymore. With that said, happy holidays to one and all and may we all be around to celebrate them again at this time next year. |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:59 PM One persons' crumbs are anothers banquet.... if everyone thought like you YUK, then Band Aid, Live Aid and so many other events would not have happened or been so successful.. A good deed just once, is a good deed. LTS |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: GUEST,Festive season Yuk Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:58 PM Amos dear boy the efectiveness of saying the things i've said is debatable, never the less somebody needs to say something to bring us back to earth at this pious overfed time of the year...and I wont be wishing you or anybody else a totaly meaningless glib happy Christmas or new year... |
|
Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: Amos Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:51 PM Well neither will your mindless carping, Yukkie-me-lad, and beating good people about the ears with huge generalizations about how bad the world is is not only a waste of time, but is actually detrimental. Just in case you didn't _know_ that. A |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: GUEST,Festive season Yuk Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:41 PM Sadly Mary crumbs from our tables arent enough...fair distribution of the worlds produce and genuine decent actionable deeds are the only meaningful solution....Sorry but shallow uncaring wishes or wishes without the genuine intention of carrying genuine effective good deeds wont change anything either |
|
Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: jimmyt Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:40 PM Hooray for you, Mary! Your sincerity is obvious, and the mere fact that you are pleasent and willing to take any small step to help solve the world's problems is infinitely better than guest's sniping and name calling as well as generalized bitching about the problems. Wisdom is in offering solutions, not pointing out problems. Happy New Year, Mary. |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: mg Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:26 PM well, Guest Festive Season, there are plenty of ways for you to help feed that hungry child. Try Children International or Unicef or remember to click every day on the Hunger Site and get all your friends to too. The world's angst is reduced indeed by every person wishing strangers a happy new year. Just a tiny amount to be sure but it is cumulative and collective. I personally don't know many people overindulging...most are scraping by. Share what you can, do what you can, take in orphans if you can. mg |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: GUEST,Festive season Yuk Date: 01 Jan 03 - 05:21 PM If only we realy meant happy new year....how many people just say it in a purely rhetorical fashion, when they are realy in all honest just wishing themselves another year of over indulgence....then of course theres our world in turmoil....what good is a happy new year to a child starving or orphaned through tyranny perpetuated by the western so called Christian worlds arms trade and greed for oil....Surely its a nonsense to suppose that the words angst will dissipate simply because we repeat parrot fashion the glib meaningless sentiment of wishing complete strangers a happy new year |

Subject: RE: Christmas 2002 new year 2003 YUK !!! From: *daylia* Date: 01 Jan 03 - 09:47 AM Well, the 'Wheel' does keep turnin on and on and on whether we celebrate or not, so maybe the best thing to do is relax and roll with it, making yourself as comfortable as possible during the ride of course ... A wonderful 2003 to you, ....YUK!!! May the new year bring you all that's healthy and happy! {{{ :-) }}} daylia |
