Wasn't he the man responsible for that GREAT "Doctor Who" theme at the BBC Electronic Workshops in the 1960's??!!
(and was he an Aussie too??)

Ans I'll forgive his "Skiffling Strings" because of the wonderful stuff he did with Peter Sellers ("Balham, gateway to the South" etc.).

There's a photo of him in today's Guardian wearing a 'Keep Music Live' "bib". Let's hope Howells is not asked to say a few words about our loss...

The death has occurred of composer and musician Ron Goodwin aged 77. Best know for his film scores of which he composed more than 60. These include "633 Squadron"; "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines"; "Where Eagles Dare" and "The Battle of Britain" among many others. Over the years he appeared with many symphony orchestras and in his long career won three "Ivor Novello" Awards.
