Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: GUEST Date: 27 Mar 03 - 06:03 PM I just found this place -- does someone need the lyrics to "I Love You A Bushel and a Peck?" I'm old enough to remember that song, sad to say. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: Bob Bolton Date: 27 Mar 03 - 05:33 PM G'day Celtaddict, Snuffy, Wolfgang and Bat Goddess, I believe the old English equivalent term, for both songs and tunes that ran round your head, was a "maggot" - and there are many dance tunes from the Elizabethan period onward named (Someone's) Maggot. Regards, Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: Charley Noble Date: 27 Mar 03 - 01:58 PM Be-bop my lady, said love, Gonna fight for the right to get into your heart, Gonna fight for a bite, that's good for a start, I'll be through with you before daylight, But I'll score some more tomorrow night! Don't wanna work for you no more, I owe my soul to the company store. This came to me in a dream. Hope it helps! Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: Bat Goddess Date: 27 Mar 03 - 01:34 PM Ohrwurm/earworm! I love it. Still kicking myself for never learning German, especially since I grew up in Milwaukee where it was taught in every school. And me a Schulz (and a Koch) yet! Gonna get some mileage out of this term (even more than dudelsackpfeifer or however it's spelled). Linn |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: Alasdair Date: 27 Mar 03 - 08:17 AM Bill is right. Folk people sing "fol-de-rol" where others might sing be-bop. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: Bill D Date: 27 Mar 03 - 08:04 AM "Bill, how did you decide that it's not folk/blues?" well..."be-bop" was one clue. *grin*...The cutesy name of some band was another. "hey, if you don't ask you don't get"...true...and if you go to your local Chinese restaurant and ask for Lasagna, you 'may' find a cook that does a Cantonese version, but most would not understand why you even asked. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insane trying to remember From: Wolfgang Date: 27 Mar 03 - 07:06 AM Ohrwurm! (and we use it exactly in that sense as earworm) Dieses Lied ist ein richtiger Ohrwurm Wolfgang |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insanse trying to remember From: GUEST,Celtaddict Date: 26 Mar 03 - 06:20 PM Dick Swain says that the phenomenon you describe, of a song or line running interminably through your mind, is called an earworm. It is evidently from a German phrase, though what the German for earworm would be is beyond my ken. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insanse trying to remember From: JJ Date: 26 Mar 03 - 08:03 AM I dunno, Mudlark. Next to a lyric like "Be-bop my lady, said love," "I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck" looks like the Loesser of two evils... |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: going insanse trying to remember From: Mudlark Date: 25 Mar 03 - 07:59 PM Sorry Barney, never heard it. But it cant be any worse than the request for "I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck" that has been on the forum for days now....and I have THAT going around in my brain, like an insane wasp buzzing in a spider web. No matter what your song sounds like, it's got to be better than that! |

Subject: Lyr Req: going insanse trying to remember From: GUEST,barney bones Date: 25 Mar 03 - 05:34 PM i have had this song going through my head for about 6 weeks now, i heard it on the radio at work but missed the title. sadly, i can only remember a couple of lines and that it sounds like curiosity killed the cat (the band not the song), although i'm pretty certain it wasn't them as i have compiled most of their back catalogue in an attempt to find the song. anyway for anyone who likes a challenge here is the (very) little i can remember: be-bop my lady, said love, gonna fight for the right to get into your heart don't wanna work for you no more not much to go on i know but i'm just hoping that someone out there may know it. alternatively i am being very dense and it is quite famous. any help appreciated. |
