Subject: RE: BS: Pigs at the Trough From: Greg F. Date: 30 Mar 03 - 09:13 AM Douggie, Douggie, Your more ignorant pontifications are so preposterous its more amusing than anyting else. Forbes? LIBERAL???? I'm sure you checked all of those 60 papers, right? Had you done so to you would have seen that they run the entire political gamut from right to left- more leaning toward the former than the latter. Do you actually bother to consider before you post such garbage, or is it simply a knee-jerk reaction you can't control, to insensibly deny anything that conflicts with your preconceived notions, regardless of any amount of contrary evidence? That computer in front of you gives you virtually immediate access to virtually unlimited reliable sources of information from all over the globe. Why not use it? Of course, if you choose to remain uninformed, That's Certainly Your Right. |

Subject: RE: BS: Pigs at the Trough From: DougR Date: 30 Mar 03 - 01:13 AM Greg F offers "The Guardian" than sixy more liberal newspapers that offers the same slant. So? I note that the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times was not included in the list. Did they carry the same story? The same slant? I read in the local newspaper today that France and Russia were already lining up "at the trough" to try to snare lucrative contracts for companies in their countries to restore the oil fields. Hopefully the contracts will be awarded to companies in Great Britain, U. S. or any other company that can do the work from the consortium of the willing involved in freeing Iraq. Russia and France can take their troubles to the U. N. and see how far they get. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Pigs at the Trough From: Greg F. Date: 29 Mar 03 - 06:42 PM Douggie, Douggie- You really need to turn off Fox 'News' [sic] and get out more. You don't like the Guardian? Well, try these on for size: Boston GlobeHERE Forbes >HERE San Jose MercuryHERE San Francisco ChronicleHERE ZD Net >HERE Daily Telegraph >HERE And finally, Issa's Own Web Page: "One day after learning of a Department of Defense directive that specified the use of European-based GSM technology for the construction of a cell phone system in post-war Iraq, Congressman Darrell Issa introduced legislation, H.R. 1441, to mandate the use of U.S. based CDMA cell phone technology... " >HERE If you want to pretend that all of these are lying, a 'Google' news search turns up at least sixty (60) more newspapers/news sites carrying the same story. |

Subject: RE: BS: Pigs at the Trough From: CarolC Date: 29 Mar 03 - 06:27 PM DougR, what, specifically, is the problem you have with "The Guardian"? Or are you just engaging in a little of what troll described in this way on another thread: It's called Argumentum ad Hominem. Discredit the man (or in this case, the newspaper) and you discredit his argument...it saves the accuser the drudgery of actually having to think about refuting any points you may have made. --troll (Or are you just sniping for sport?) |

Subject: BS: Pigs at the Trough From: Greg F. Date: 28 Mar 03 - 06:15 PM The real reasons behind the Iraq idiocy are starting to float to the surface. Here's just one example of "the Liberation of the Iraqi people", more to follow, I'm sure. Its drawing those Republicans just like flies to shit. ----- Battle over Iraqi Mobile Network Begins Paul Hamilos Friday March 28, 2003 With the war in Iraq barely nine days old, a Republican congressman has begun campaigning over the country's postwar telecommunications network. Darrell Issa, from southern California, has introduced a bill calling for the US government to adopt a mobile phone network in postwar Iraq that, if introduced, would benefit the American economy at the expense of the Gulf state's ability to communicate with the outside world.
