Subject: RE: Hawaiian boy in Philly 7/27-8/1 From: musicmick Date: 15 Jul 03 - 01:12 AM Mark, May I suggest that a call to the Phila. Folksong Society office (215-247-1300) will get you a list of all the folk activities in the area. There are sings, sessions, parties, concerts, clubs and lots more that week. If I can help, you can contact me at musicmic@earthlink.net Mike Miller |

Subject: RE: Hawaiian boy in Philly 7/27-8/1 From: Naemanson Date: 13 Jul 03 - 10:04 PM Mark, by all means hook up with Bert. I guarantee a good evening. He and I hooked up on one of my visits down there and we spent a very pleasant evening listening to Irish(ish) music and swilling beer in an authenticated (kind of) Irish pub. By the by, Bert, thanks again for that lovely evening. |

Subject: RE: Hawaiian boy in Philly 7/27-8/1 From: katlaughing Date: 13 Jul 03 - 11:40 AM That's kewl, Mark! I understand the not talking. I had a publisher for a book this last December. Then an article highlighting them came out, they got 200 more submissions. I still made it to the final three, but they could only publish two books for the year, so down to the last wire, then lost out. East Coast in the summer? Remember the Three Aitches? Hot, Hazy, and Humid?! Aaarrgghhh! **BG** Have fun with yer folks and daughter, anyway! |

Subject: RE: Hawaiian boy in Philly 7/27-8/1 From: Mark Cohen Date: 13 Jul 03 - 01:17 AM kat, the editor is the one who has run a few of my pieces in Discover Magazine over the past couple of years. The agent is someone I was introduced to about 15 years ago when I was starting a book project that didn't go anywhere (which was not his fault!) I sent him the beginning of a new book project, and he was interested and supportive. I'm excited! I'm not going to say any more about it, though, because I have a long way to go and it's all still very tentative. The main things for this trip will be seeing my daughter and my family, seeing some old and new music friends--and re-acquainting myself with July on the East Coast! Aloha, Mark |

Subject: Hawaiian boy in Philly 7/27-8/1 From: Mark Cohen Date: 13 Jul 03 - 01:01 AM I'll be taking my 8-year-old daughter to the East Coast next week. We'll be spending a week in Boston with my sister, and a week in my hometown of Philadelphia with my mom. Our Boston schedule is filling up rapidly (including the Press Room on Friday 7/25 and a Gordon Bok concert in Newbury on 7/26), but I'm wondering what musical gatherings there might be in the Quaker City area the following week. One tentative plan is to drive down one day to visit with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer in DC, but it depends on their recording schedule. I'm also going to spend one day in New York visiting with an editor and agent (leaving Shayna with her grandmother for the day). But otherwise, the week is wide open. I'm all ears! Aloha, Mark |
