Actually, as much as I wanted to see Congress change the June 2nd FCC ruling by passing a law regarding limits, this isn't really the good news it appears to be on the surface. The Republicans have used this vote to cover their asses, and their strategy is to see this amendment thrown out in the House/Senate conference committee. It isn't their intention to change the letter or spirit of the FCC ruling one iota. This was a tactical vote, which gives them cover in election season.

See this article, from Editor and Publisher:

GOP Hopes to Block FCC Rollback

I'm all for celebrating the little victories, but first, I want to be sure what I'm celebrating IS a victory. This vote, despite being trumpeted as such, isn't any such thing.

This is great news, and a very encouraging sign of a grassroots movement (MoveOn.org) succeeding in influencing the policy makers in DC.

There is hope yet!

Cheers,
Michael
