Subject: RE: SINGING IN DUBLIN??? From: Chris from Dublin Date: 24 Oct 03 - 05:01 PM Hi all, I can confirm the Cobblestone in Smithfield as brilliant venue. It has been closed for a while but it's now back.(If you have difficulties to find it: ask for Jameson's distillery) Try out as well Mother Redcaps near Christ Church. Enjoy it, Chris |

Subject: RE: SINGING IN DUBLIN??? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 Oct 03 - 02:50 AM I don't know if it still happens but 13 years ago, Manitas and I went to Dublin (en route to Lisdoonvarna for honeymoon - don't ask!), and spent most of Sunday in the Brazen Head, Dublins' oldest pub (allegedly). We went in for a quick pint before lunch, just after 12.30pm, and didn't come out until 7.00pm. Whilst we were there, the singing and playing didn't stop for longer than it takes to top up the Guinness. They only stopped at 7.00 so that they could move next door to the folk club! The pub itself closed and opened twice without anyone noticing - except at 5.50pm when the landlord started pouring Guinness', til he had them lined 10 across and 4 deep along the bar. At 6.01 the doors crashed open, a whole group of men came in, slapped their money on the bar and the Guinness went down the throat. By 6.08 the whole lot was gone. LTS |

Subject: RE: SINGING IN DUBLIN??? From: Bev and Jerry Date: 24 Oct 03 - 12:42 AM On Friday, October 24th don't miss An Goilin Folk Club in Dublin. On Tuesday, October 28 try Fingal Singers Club, O'Connors Pub, Ballyboughal, County Dublin. Despite it's name, this was a mixed session but both singing and playing were excellent. It's a little north of the airport. And if this is Lynn S. like we think it is, please say hello to her for us. Bev and Jerry |

Subject: SINGING IN DUBLIN??? From: GUEST,WyoWoman at Work Date: 23 Oct 03 - 03:09 PM Hello Strangers, My good friend Lynn from Kansas City is on her way to Dublin, even as we speak, to walk the marathon. While she's in Ireland, she'd love to find some people to sing with and to hear. Her schedule is: Dublin - Oct 24-29, 2003 Cork - Oct 30, 2003 If any of you know of sings or open mics during these dates, please let me know, either by replying in this thread, or by emailing me at kcompton@ogdenpubs.com. Lynn and I are part of a four-woman group called Carry On! that has begun singing together here in the Heartland, doing gigs like Earth Day and the Rolling Thunder Down-Home Democracy Tour. She's a songwriter and guitar player, in addition to being a singer and excellent pal. She likes her beer stout and her songs long, so she ought to be right at home in Ireland. And hello, by the way, to my old pals there in Mudcat-Land. I'm sorry I've been such a stranger myself, but a combination of lousy internet access at home, way-busy-ness at work and doing a lot of singing have made me a stranger to almost everything that requires me to be online. Cheerios, WyoWoman |
