Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sugar Babe From: 12-stringer Date: 02 Nov 03 - 10:08 PM Sugar babe what's the matter with you? It ain't your honey but the way you do ... All I want my sugar to do Make five dollars and give me two ... Went down town and bought me a rope Whipped my baby till she buzzard-loped ... Went down town and bought me a line Whipped my baby till she changed her mind ... (jeez, this song is getting violent!) There may be another verse or two. Is there a version of this that _doesn't_ derive from Mance Lipscomb's first Arhoolie LP? |
Subject: Lyr Req: Sugar Babe From: richlmo Date: 02 Nov 03 - 09:45 PM Been away from the Mudcat for awhile and there doesn't seem to be much Bluegrass on the threads these days, but this song is in my head and I need some help. " Sugar Babe, what's the matter with you?, You don't love me like you used to do......... ". That's all I remember. I always thought it was on a Doc Watson album called, "Doc and the Boys", but just found that album and it isn't there. Need the lyrics, remember the tune, who wrote it, etc. I know somebody on the 'Cat knows. |
