Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: Kim C Date: 12 Dec 03 - 01:05 PM I never have been able to get a headache to go away using the pinch-the-hand method. Either I'm not doing it right, or it just won't work on me. Two Aleve and one glass of wine usually do pretty well, though. But only one glass - too much wine can exacerbate a headache. Here in Tennessee, most of us have sinus problems, thanks to our native plants. Sinus headaches are pretty par for the course. |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: ced2 Date: 12 Dec 03 - 12:02 PM OFSTED inspection.. bad news. What is the difference between a plastic surgeon and an OFSTED inspector? One tucks features. |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: Trevor Date: 10 Dec 03 - 08:13 PM Thanks all. I had acupuncture a couple of years ago and that fleshy bit on the base of the thumb is where he always stuck the first needles - a good place for stimulating natural endorphins apparently. And it's probably not unconnected that when we're a bit wound up we tend to 'wring' our hands and unconsciously put pressure on that area. Mary, just the thought of the peppermint of lavender is helping! And as I'm on my own I can go and try the various massage ideas without raising anybody else's eyebrows! |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: Guessed Date: 10 Dec 03 - 08:02 PM Also gently rotating your fingertips across your brow bone is worth a whirl...... Try the eyebrows from the centre out - if it is sinus and the fog today is a good clue, it works for a few minutes. If it is in the back of the neck - its tension. Eyebrows and eyes - it is sinus. On top of the head it may be cold weather - migraines are the capilliaries shutting down and cold weather does it - though it will have done it before and today is not the coldest recently. |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: Ebbie Date: 10 Dec 03 - 07:54 PM Another method that works/feels good is to cup your cranium between the heels of your hands then gently drum the top of your head with your fingertips and fingernails, then work them toward the front of the head right at the seam of the skull. Believe it or not, it works. In the presence of other people though, I swear by the pinching of the web between one's thumb and forefinger. I don't pinch just the skin though- I press and hold the meaty part of the web. Both hands, in succession- you can almost feel the headache lift. |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: GUEST,Doc Who Date: 10 Dec 03 - 07:47 PM I have read that pinching the floppy bit of skin between your thumb and first finger works....I have tried it, and believe it or not it worked. Probably something to do with pressure points? Also gently rotating your fingertips across your brow bone is worth a whirl..........Good Luck. |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: GUEST Date: 10 Dec 03 - 07:41 PM I can provide relief for about 3 seconds: If the Pilsbury Dough Boy bent over, what would you see? Doughnuts! |

Subject: RE: BS: Headache From: mg Date: 10 Dec 03 - 07:35 PM do you have access to a health store? Or friends who do aromatherpay? Get some peppermint and lavendar essential oils..take one drop of each, and rub on your temples..the peppermint might sting a bit...neither one is overly expensive to buy and have a lot of other uses...mg |

Subject: BS: Headache From: Trevor Date: 10 Dec 03 - 07:32 PM OK, I've got a stinker and I've had it all day. It's probably a tension one, not unconnected with an OFSTED inspection. I've tried all the usual dodges and its still here. Ideas please......... |
