Subject: RE: BS: Bush in 30 seconds - the winning Ad From: katlaughing Date: 18 Jan 04 - 09:47 AM Yes, SRS, I did try them both and yes, I know you have to click on it to start it. It's been an ongoing problem with my old OS. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but that hasn't helped. I'll probably have to wait until I can upgrade. Hopefully they will run it on tv in this market. Thanks, kat |

Subject: RE: BS: Bush in 30 seconds - the winning Ad From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Jan 04 - 10:05 PM A segue here to another Bush abomination. Americans aren't just asleep, they're brain dead. They can't see everything that Bush is taking away--he is so much worse than Reagan for enriching his friends. This from a news release, then some observations from an engineer friend of mine below it:
Hubble's doom in the stars: NASA to retire its telescope By PATTY REINERT Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle Washington Bureau WASHINGTON -- Two days after President Bush redirected NASA toward the moon and Mars, the space agency on Friday announced the first casualty: the Hubble Space Telescope. "This is a sad day," said John Grunsfeld, NASA's chief scientist and a four-time shuttle astronaut. The decision shook the astronomy world. Grunsfeld said NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe made the decision and broke the news to workers at Goddard Spaceflight Center in Maryland on Friday morning, saying a planned space shuttle mission to service the telescope would be canceled. The bus-size telescope, which has been sending home spectacular images of the universe for over a decade and forced the rewriting of astronomy textbooks, will continue its mission until it wears out -- likely by 2007 or 2008, Grunsfeld said. Then NASA will launch a robotic spacecraft to grab the telescope and guide it through the Earth's atmosphere to splash down in a remote area of an ocean. NASA scientists and engineers working on Hubble eventually will be shifted to the new moon-Mars effort, Grunsfeld said. The rest of it is at http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/printstory.hts/space/2358102. My friend, an aerospace engineer, remarked:

Subject: RE: BS: Bush in 30 seconds - the winning Ad From: Bobert Date: 17 Jan 04 - 08:58 PM Won't be too long before there won't be any ads shown on TV but those of Republicans. Yeah, if Bush wins '04, you can just as well pull the plug on democracy. Tne Repubs have done run the table boys. Game over. Go home, stick a flag in front yard, don't complain when ya loose yer job or end up takin' a drastic pay cut, don't complain when they draft yer kids to send to be killed off in their wars de joir. Just smile, like the slaves did, say "Yes, sah... I likes everythin' jus fine, massa. Kin I get ya' sum mo tea, sah?" Yeah, just today the Supremes did their part in the complete take over in refusing to here the Texas redistricting! Man, geeze, oh, man! Are they ever partisan. Wonder what they're gonna do when Bush's henchmen come for the 4 unbrain-dead justices? And folks like my pal, Doug an' Teribus thinkin', "Great"... Well, my friends. When there is *no* opposition left then I hope you all don't find yerselves on the wrong side of an issue and wishin' that we had democracy back... Yeah, democracy as we know it, even if the Dems win the White House, is slippin', slippin', slippin' into history... That's the way I see it... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Bush in 30 seconds - the winning Ad From: GUEST,Frank Hamilton Date: 17 Jan 04 - 07:29 PM CBS is not going to show that ad because it is not controlled by a "liberal-bias." It's controlled by lobbyists and sponsors who are suppressing free speech and opposing points of view in a country that professes democracy but acts otherwise. Democracy has been sold to the highest bidder. You will not see different points of view on prime-time. Much of America is still asleep and doesn't realize how their freedoms are being eroded by corporate interests that are trying to "privatize" (a euphemism for destroying) our participatory democracy. The general news media is pretty much useless when it comes to valuable information. As Bill Moyers showed us through his TV show "Now",in the interview with the guest from from the Annenberg Institute, the news media is mainly interested in personality profiles, infotainment, and doesn't want to bore what they call the "American people" with information about the government. I watch the BBC news and Bill Moyers when I want some valid information on TV. (I don't have cable). Did anyone really believe that CBS would run a MoveOn ad? Long live the Net. Frank |

Subject: RE: BS: Bush in 30 seconds - the winning Ad From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Jan 04 - 12:44 PM What a bunch of wusses over there at CBS. There's another thread with discussion of their refusal to play a Michael Moore spot also. I betcha won't see Dan Rather walk off of the air for 12 minutes over it, though. SRS |

My favorite was the animated one, followed by the one aimed at the yopung voters. Man that one hit like real hard... Good stuff... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Bush in 30 seconds - the winning Ad From: Stilly River Sage Date: 13 Jan 04 - 05:37 PM I couldn't use the low bandwidth Quick Time, it said I needed to load it (and I'm not an administrator on this system) but I know it's on my office machine, so I tried the high bandwidth and it worked. They seem to be two different programs. I did go back to your page, Alice, and saw that it was there. There are more links to choose from on the other page, is all. SRS |
