Subject: RE: BS: Acupuncture and gettin' in the Zone From: kendall Date: 25 Jan 04 - 08:47 PM accupuncture is amazing. It can help you quit smoking, lose weight, cure headaches etc. and you hardly feel the needles. they are so tiny, you only feel the ones that hit the "bad" spot. Even then, you would have to be a real wimp to complain. |

Subject: BS: Acupuncture and gettin' in the Zone From: katlaughing Date: 25 Jan 04 - 04:34 PM Last May I started going to the acupuncturist on a regular basis. We worked on cleansing out my system with acupuncture and certain supplements, as dictated by each visit. He also had me concentrate on eating more akaline foods than acid. (There's a list in a recent thread. I'll link to it later.) Earlier that year, my blood pressure had gotten really high as had the blood and protein in my urine. In July, I had to start seeing a specialist for my kidneys. She was cautious, but let me know she probably would want to do a "roto-rooter" job on one artery leading to one of my kidneys. She also told me about the Zone diet and urged me to give it a try, using the book, "A Week in the Zone." I did and found it much to my liking; a good balance of carbs, good fats, and low-fat protein. Their "eyeball it" method makes it really easy. I kept going to the acupuncturist and begged off another doctor's visit in Oct. because I was doing so well. I just saw the specialist a couple of weeks ago. All of my lab levels were in the "normal" ranges. She's impressed with the acupuncturist's work, esp. as the bloodwork shows the definitive changes. Also, I've been able to stick with the diet and have lost 22 pounds. The blood pressure is fine, too! So, I don't have to go back to her, again, unless there's a problem and we'll just do a lab check every six months. I am still losing weight, still going to the acupuncturist, and still feeling much, much better. I know these things work differently for each individual, but I've been really impressed by acupuncture and by this way of eating. For those who are into alternative treatments, I would highly recommend it. Thanks, kat |
