Our own Bill Sables, Sam Pirt and Ian Stephenson have also recorded a fine version of this excellent tune.

Peace

On the tape ' The Silver Bow ' Tom Anderson and Ally Bain play it like Geoff the Duck said, slowly but with the ' scotch snap ' strathspeylike.
Of course it was written by Tom, very beautiful tune.

I was told I shouldnt attempt to learn this tune until I could pronounce the name correctly! Just a thought!

Everyone seems to play this particular tune in a very even tempo, usually trying to get it to sound very lyrical. When I first heard the tune, it was on an LP of Shetland Fiddling, and I think it was played by the bloke who wrote it (Tom Anderson). The delivery was Very stilted, akin to the style of a Strathspey (but without the very fast bits mixed in).
I think it sounds much better played with a bit of style.
Quack!
Geoff the Duck.

Does anyone have an MP3 I can listen to? I would like to learn this tune. Also, what old time and folk sites will give me free MP3s for download?
