" like in Gealic we have " á , é, ó , " then we have z, þ,æ,and ð Ð

so " ég elska þig " would be    é-g elska þ-ig "

I thought "Baa" was Scots or Welsh....

My youngest brother dressed as someone settling Illinois back about 1810 would have dressed as a demonstration of one of his sons classes. His outfit included a flintlock rifle, a patch knife, and a belt knife -- and so the Principal met him at the door and stayed with him throughout the presentation.

Bro explained the various things -- flint and steel to make a fire, how you'd make tea from a brick of tea, how the rifle worked (without firing it!), and so on. The kids were entranced, save for one smart-aleck who said, "Well, yeah, but your knife (the belt knife he had on) ain't sharp and this is all toys, isn't it?"

Never, ever, criticize my brother's knife sharpening ability. He used to sharpen scalpels, and it so happened that he'd put an edge on this particular knife just the night before.

He simply looked at the kid, drew the knife, and holding the knife edge upwards dropped a piece of paper edge downwards onto the blade.

The paper was cleanly cut by its own weight into two parts. The kid's jaw hit the floor. The principal later thanked my bro for shutting up a mouthy punk.

As a rule, one does not say "I love you" with a sword, in any language. If it is Scots Gaelic and the sword is a claymore, it may qualify in certain perverse subcuiltures, but that is an exception. Not for the minds of young and hopeful children, certainly! :>))

In Irish Gaeilge:   Ta grá agam duit or Táim i' ngrá leat. (different dialects/ways)

In Scots Gaelic:   Tha gràdh agam ort.

By the way, have you seen this movie? When it was released on videotape over here, it was called "The Celt". The costume and weaponry was supposed to have been well-researched anyway.

Halló all , I am teaching some kids tomorrow something about the Vikings and the Kelts becouse theachers( hope I wrote this right? )
are going away tomorrow so the parrents take over the school for one day, how do you like that? but They want to know how to say " I love you " in Gealic. I´ll have a sword and some others things
from this time to show them how it was or we thing it was.
