Subject: RE: New Welsh Trad. Summer School From: sian, west wales Date: 07 May 04 - 06:56 AM Oh, sorry! I didn't make that clear. It's actually not a mono-lingual event! I'm actually sending 3 Swedish music students to it, along with 5 from Wales, so it's very multi-ethnic and -lingual! There isn't an 'English' title to the course, so I can see where that can be misleading ... sian |

Subject: RE: New Welsh Trad. Summer School From: Llanfair Date: 06 May 04 - 06:31 PM If anyone needs accommodation, we're only a few miles away. Not being a Welsh speaker, I don't think I would get much out of the course. Sounds good, though. Cheers, Bron. |

Subject: New Welsh Trad. Summer School From: sian, west wales Date: 06 May 04 - 04:30 AM There's a new summer school being held from 1 – 4 July in Dinas Mawddwy (which is north of Aberystwyth, between Machynlleth and Dolgellau). It's set up to develop skills in trad. Welsh music, and also music of Brittany and Euskal Herria (The Basque Country). Welsh tutors will be Ceri Rhys Matthews (pipes, et al.) and Cass Meurig (fiddle, crwth). Dom Duff will be over from Brittany and Saioa Eseberria from the Basque Country. Apart from music tuition, there are also lecture/demos on Welsh dance/clogging and poetry. The whole thing finishes up on the Sunday night with a concert/twmpath. It starts at 5.30 p.m. on the Thursday and the course fee is £75 (£60 for full-time students) which does not include accomodation or food. More information is available from Meic Llewelyn, 01650 511 778. siân |
