"On your bike, Bush" would be understood in Ireland anyway.

Eloquent little cartoon in today's Guardian - two of Bush's Men in Black minders pushing a bike along and one is saying "The President tried to ride it and eat a pretzel at the same time"

Christy Moore, Mary Black and other top Irish musicians are joining together to organise an a major concert in aid of the anti-Bush campaign.
Bush is due in Ireland next month, the Irish are in the middle of their six months presidincy of the European Union and this is the reason for the visit, protocol is a load of balls.

The concert is being organised by The Irish anti-war movement, Richard Boyd Barrett chairman of IAWM says,"through protests and in every opinion poll the huge majority of people in this country have made clear their opposition to Bush`s war".
The concert will be a platform to encourage tens of thousands to take to the streets to protest against the presence of Bush in Ireland

I`m afraid the protesters wont get close to Bush as he will be holed up in Dromoland Casle in County Clare, protest groups from all over Ireland and further afield will bring Dublin to a halt.

Methinks the "Mouth guard" should be used more often by our political leaders.... To prevent the entry of the foot.

"Mouth guard" - would that be a bit like Hannibal Lector?

Seems to us that he should wear the "mouth guard" more often.

"On your bike!"

Sorry McGrath - never heard that one in the U.S. So few Americans have bikes.

some of our ways of telling some one to leave:

Shove off
Beat it
Get the fuck out of here
Blow

Others people?

"fell about 16 miles into a 17-mile ride"

That's a hell of a distance to fall. Lucky he had a nice soft 17 mile ride to land in.

How do we get John Howard to take up bike-riding?

Gives a new meaning to the cry "On your bike!" (Do Americans use that one as a way of telling someone to push off? It'd be a good slogan to use in campaigning against Bush, if people understand it.)

About a year ago, Bush and family were in Kennebunkport, Maine taking yet another vacation when Bush tried riding a Segway. He did manage to narrowly avert make a five-point landing with the thing:   two knees, two elbows, one chin. Dumping himself on the thing was pretty klutzy (it's supposed to be "foolproof" technology, which of course, opens the door for speculation along several lines of thought), but he did manage to recover without damage, so whether or not he's a fully ordained stumblebum was, at least at that time, open for debate. He wouldn't be the only president who would probably be weeded out early in auditions for the New York City Ballet. Gerald Ford was famous that way. The Prez in mid-fllight.

Bush falls on bike ride

"...Bush, who was accompanied on his bike ride by his doctor, Richard Tubb, a military agent and a member of the secret service, fell about 16 miles into a 17-mile ride. The accident caused minor abrasions his chin, upper lip, nose, right hand and both knees, but was able to ride back home, said Duffy.

Tubb treated the president on site. Mr Bush, according to Duffy, was wearing a helmet and a mouth guard when he fell.

Reporters were told not to be surprised if the president is bandaged next time he appears in public.
