Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 27 Sep 04 - 03:35 AM Westwood is back, but Colin Inglis might soon be going! He has been accused [Again!] of fiddling with little boys, this is the 5th time he has been accused of child sex abuse matters, so far he has not been charged with anything, as the CPS [Criminal Protection Society] have decided not to bring charges, due to insufficient evidence. Colin Inglis is the Leader of Hull City Council, and Chairman of Humberside Police Force, he recently resigned as governor of a local boys school. see Yorkshire Post for full details, or put "Colin Inglis" into Google News. |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Paco Rabanne Date: 13 Sep 04 - 04:22 AM Humberside Police are incompetent, no question. Anyone trying to run that lot is bound to fail. Ps: jOhn, have you died? Where did the "saint" come from then? |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 12 Sep 04 - 11:02 PM He's back. Apparently he's great! [according to local paper, [they ran a campaign to bring him back]] I know a few serving police officers in the Humberside force. the general concensus seems to be that Colin Inglis is a prat. [other words were used to describe him, that i feel would be unsuitable for a forum such as this!] The "Big Telly" and LPT were mentioned. |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Jul 04 - 07:08 PM So, LH, give us the benefit of your erudition. IMHO, there was much to be said, on paper, for Westwood's force's interpretation of the Data Protection Act. It's the Act that is the problem. Certainly, Blunkett is a menace to democracy, a kneejerk control freak of serious standing. He's nearly as dangerous as Murdoch or Berlusconi, and probably more dangerous than Jack Straw. |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 02 Jul 04 - 06:06 PM When Jack Straw was shadow home secetary, he criticised Michael Howard (then the home secretary) for forcing out the prisons chief. (Although Jack had all the cards in his hand, he managed to lose the debate by a handsome margin!) Once again Labour is shamelessly doing exactly what it righteously criticised the Tories for doing. Whether it's spin, sleaze or bullying from the centre, there really is no difference: Labour are the new Tories. |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: John MacKenzie Date: 02 Jul 04 - 01:20 PM What stinks is the fact that a politician is holding someone responsible for the actions of others. Try doing that to a politician like say Geoff Hoon for example, they blame civil servants and lowly minions, while claiming to know nothing about it themselves. Politicians themselves no longer behave with honour, and refuse to take responsibility for the actions of people in their department. The poor guy who blew the whistle on the awarding of work permits to bogus applications in Romania, was himself disciplined for telling the truth. Whatever happened to 'The buck stops here'? There is truly no honour amongst thieves. Giok |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 01 Jul 04 - 11:11 PM Yep, agreed Fionn, the Soham case was as a result of a cataloge of errors, [Huntley should never have been allowed anywhere near kids, let alone given a job in a schol, after all the eleven? allagastions aganist him, including rape, underage sex, indecent assault, these were made by eleven seperate people, surely if eleven seperate girls/women accuse somebody of sexual assault, somebody in authority should take notice, and at least keep an eye on him? Blunkett is [from waht i unfedrstand] head of the home office, Home Secreatary? why doesn't he resign? Westwood is seen as a moron by the bobbies on the beat, [he has not seen any real ploice work [been on the beat in any capacity] since 1980, 24 years in an office! It was Westwood that disbanded Humberside Police's Veichle Crime Unit, even though this force has has the highest car crime figures in Europe. Burglary rates up, viloent crime up, veichle crime up. Not sure why Inglis & Co are backing him, a few funny handshakes going on I reckon. |

Subject: RE: BS: David Westwood, should he stay or go? From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 01 Jul 04 - 10:55 PM Go. The guy behaves like a prat in my view. On the other hand, I'm all for Humberside police authority giving Blunkett a run for his money, because it's got sod all to do with Blunkett (except that the Home Office is desperate to divert all the flak on to the police forces). |
