The old building they used was so badly rundown that they razed it. She was quite happy to be able to help out. Try listening to the audio...it's well worth it. |

In my town, we don't have a school, town hall or any public building except the post office.......and in a hamlet of 400, thats not so very big. |

Subject: BS: 90 yr old woman's garage is polling plac From: katlaughing Date: 02 Nov 04 - 07:06 PM This old lady is precious and what being an American is all about, imo. Please follow the link and listen to her interview on npr: click here. Wilma Shriver lives in West Virginia. She is 90 years old and hosts her town's polling place in her garage. She raked up leaves yesterday, so as to avoid fire hazards, plus she hosed down the outside of the garage to get rid of cobwebs, etc. And, she is legally blind. She considers it her civic duty to let them hold voting in her garage as the town lost its previous polling place to old age and being torn down. She also has a beautiful voice.:-) kat |
