.... and again, it happened again; 36 Years Today!

I remember I had a brand new pimple on my forehead, just in time! I combed my hair, to look more respectable - and my friend Chris adapted CHILD SONG for the little ceremony, in her father's kliving room.

A few friends, a bit of family ... it was a nice event. Not too much ceremony, but a favorite verse or two was read, and the usual vows excahnged.

The magic worked!

SNAP! WE hit 34 years on 19th Dec., too!
Had a nice meal & bottle at home then a carol concert- my annual trip to Sheila's church. I'm a regular churchgoer, just not frequent!

I was logged in here on the 19th, thinking "Isn;t there something else I should be doing? Something more important then looking at Mudcat?" ... then I remembered, "Oh yeah - it's our anniversary! I'll write Lou an anniversary message on Mudcat" ... now if Louisa has ever seen Mudcat it's because I made her come in and take a look at something or other - so it's not like a Mudcat Annniversary wish will make a big impact on her ...

but it's the thought that counts, eh?

Peggy and I, who have been married only 31 years, met Jed this past summer when he played O'Flaherty's in New Orleans. It's a rare occasion for us to encounter someone married longer than ourselves. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to meet Louisa sometime, too.

People tell us *we* look a bit younger than we really are, too -- maybe it comes with the territory, part of the reward for hanging in for so long.

When Jed told me (back in '01 at the Getaway) that he'd been married 31 years and had a kid not quite as old as the marriage, I thought he was joking. I thought he must've been about 10 when he got hitched. He has since had his hair stylist add some gray to his beard just so he looks a little bit closer to his age.

My guess is the marriage is what's keeping him young. Jed and Louisa, here's hoping for many more years for the both of you. May your love only grow stronger and deeper. There isn't one single thing that even comes close to love in importance.
