Subject: RE: BS: More on the Lake District walks From: Blowzabella Date: 10 Jan 05 - 12:34 PM In response to the initial posting, I haven't read anywhere (and I have read quite a bit about ths issue, as i work for a Tourism Service just south of the Lake Distict) where it says that the government would stop funding the National Park Authority if they didn't take this step - I have read, however, that the National Park Authority have said that it will mean they can access GREATER funding this way, than previously (please see also my post on the other thread) I read the srticles the link leads to (you have to go back a few days, via the 'previous' button and many bodies representing minority groups agree that it is ludicrous to remove successful programmes which are already in place. By all means, encourage more members of minority groups to take part in the programmes, but don't prevent those who are already doing so, by removing them. Blowz |

Subject: BS: More on the Lake District walks From: GUEST Date: 09 Jan 05 - 01:02 PM An update on the Lake District Guided Walks, led volunteers, being halted as they attract too many white, middle class, middle aged people. This is not the Nation Park Authorities decision. The government funds them, and says it will stop their funding if they carry on the walks. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/mai.../09/ixhome.html incredible |
