Subject: RE: BS: Rodents in the car (UK version) From: Flash Company Date: 14 Feb 05 - 10:39 AM The RSPB web site has plenty of bird feeders with peanuts. So does our local Pet shop, come to that. I stopped using them because it is impossible to find anywhere to hang them that the squirrels can't get to. I have to admit I was a little dubious about the squirrel getting access to the air filter, and unfortunately the paper with the story in has now gone for re-cycling so I can't remember if it gave any technical details. Maybe Dave would fill us in. FC |

Subject: RE: BS: Rodents in the car (UK version) From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 13 Feb 05 - 02:14 PM I believe that some people feed birds peanuts. Woodpeckers like them, I believe. However, I doubt whether any air filter would be so open that a squirrel could simply stuff peanuts into it. Doesn't an air filter usually sit in a container with a lid and a wing nut or similar? |

Subject: BS: Rodents in the car (UK version) From: Flash Company Date: 11 Feb 05 - 10:27 AM Apparently a guy called David Bowler in Hampshire was having problems with his car losing power and took it in to his local dealer, They found a loose nut in the engine (actually, about 2000 loose nuts in the engine) Somehow a squirrel had got in and was storing peanuts taken from a bird-feeder in his air filter. The garage took a photo as proof. Reported in todays Daily Mail. FC |
