I think I'm the same amount special any day, valentine's day included, but the problem with Valentine's Day is the potential for what it could be but isn't. Ever. And the more recently the potential is relistic (which means how long ago did I have a boyfriend) and the more friends I have who are out with their SO's the more frustrating it is. But I'm too young to give up. I'll have a good Valentine's day yet. Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

Dear Layah,

Happy Valentine's Day! I've never had anyone who fussed over me much & I've always kind of wished someone would. This year, I took a more positive approach to the day & sent off a few love notes to other unpartnered friends to let them know that I appreciate them. We don't have to have a sweetheart to be special (even if we'd like one!), even on Valentine's Day!

Yes Happy Valentine's Day to Layah and also to Bruce and everyone else. Please send real chocolates though. These cyber ones are so unsatisfying although I appreciate the sentiment, but not as much as the calories. Also the oil rigs at sea..the Ocean Ranger went down the day after and people got their valentines from the dear departed. mg
