Thanks, Carole. I have the words to all five verses, and I also have the tune (sung by London Bobby - whoever he is), but as I'm merging these songs into my autobiography (covering 84 years so far) I'd rather have an OLD-time singer singing all 5 verses plus chorus, rather than Bobby singing just 3 of them in a supposed pub.

On the other hand, if you'd like me to e-mail you the Bobby one, contact me at

There was an earlier thread requesting lyrics for Sussex by the sea...(sorry can't do the clever clicky things, perhaps there's something on there. I sent Guest Lin a copy of the sheet music..I could pass on her contact details if you want

Carole

Hu Taffy2
On the off chance I tried a search on Peter Dawson of "Floral dance" fame but no luck.

Thanks, Kenny, but the other folks seem to have been concentrating more on the sheet music and the words as separate items, whereas I'm looking for an old-time (OLD old-time?) male singer doing this song.

I do have a more modern rendition - just verses 1,2 and 4, plus the chorus, of course - sung by someone named London Bobby in the style of a pub singalong. But what I really need is the entire thing. Needed, by the way, so I can merge it into my memoirs which I've spent the last 14 years or so in compiling..

My mother was born in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex, and was always humming or singing this song when I was a kid back in the 1920s. I already have the complete words, and the tune itself, But I recall we also had a record with a male singer singing it. Any idea who this singer could be? Or any leads to a male singer singing ALL the verses? Thanks!
