Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: Joe Offer Date: 28 Jul 11 - 11:03 PM Click here for a post from Judy Cook herself about the song. I know it from Waldorf schools; and from a wonderful California woman who loved rounds, the late Bettine Wallen. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: Desert Dancer Date: 28 Jul 11 - 01:30 PM GUEST Heather, using the search box (in the upper left of the main page) and a chunk of your lyrics, I find the song and its tune are in the database under Happy Days. If a search runs dry, you're best off posting to an existing thread containing related questions or lyrics, or creating a new thread, rather than posting to a thread with the same people in it. (There are a LOT of threads in the history of Mudcat!) ~ Becky in Long Beach |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: GUEST,KT Date: 23 May 05 - 04:19 AM Well, those two are amazing!! They came to yet another session this afternoon, where they sang less but played piano and guitar, as the session was more instrumental. They had to be at the hotel at 4:oo to meet up with their group and board their ship and they stayed til aproximately 3:59. Wonderful folks!!! And Rita, yes, the Getaway and Mudcat and the Getaway and so wonderful for how they bring people together purely for the sharing of music. Mudcatters are wonderful folks. We're trying to Bevelanne (ADDY,) ,AND ANOTHER FRIEND WHO doesn't have a cookie yet, to the Getaway this year. They might need some encouragement from former attendees . Any takers? KT |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: GUEST, Ebbie Date: 22 May 05 - 07:55 PM That boy has impeccable timing, Ferrara. LOL We had a great time last night, and I fervently hope they did too. I would love to have showcased them and let us hear many more of their songs. They are lovely people and just brimming with song. I am grateful to Debbie Johnson for bringing them along on Friday. If she hadn't we'd never have known they were in town. Unless the subject came up at the Getaway, when it was too late to do anything about it. sob I'm looking forward even more to October. In the meantime, anyone else? Step right up! (Rapaire, are you still planning on coming to Juneau in August??) |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: Ferrara Date: 22 May 05 - 03:56 PM Yeah, this may be "fakelore," because my memory is very deceptive; but that moment is on Tinker's video of the Getaway. At the moment Mick walked into the Mudcat cabin, Judy was singing Tails & Trotters, and she grinned and addressed her next line to him. I think the line was "He's a big pig now, he's executive pork" Oh Ebbie this is so neat that you all got together. Ain't Mudcat (and the Getaway, too) wonderful for bringing so many like minded people together? |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: GUEST,KT Date: 22 May 05 - 03:31 PM Hmmmm.......Of course I couldn't say for sure, since I wasn't there, but Judy did say something about asking Mick about the pig song......... |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: SINSULL Date: 22 May 05 - 02:12 PM Now was it a frog or a pig song that Judy was singing when Big Mick wandered in the front door of the Mudcat cabin and was amazed at the reception he received???? |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: GUEST,KT Date: 22 May 05 - 02:57 AM It was wonderful seeing Dennis and Judy!! Great folks with a wealth of great songs to share! Judy and Dennis, there's a new song brewing....something about "Pig songs on the porch under the light of the almost-full moon." Thanks for the memory! snort, oink, snort! Bon voyage! See you in the fall KT |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: GUEST, Ebbie Date: 21 May 05 - 05:44 PM Well, we're on! I've been making phone calls and I plan to have the get together at my own home instead of at my singing partner's home two houses away. I'll have to put up some blankets to absorb some of the reverb, what with the empty rooms, but it will be great fun. I understand that tomorrow Judy and Dennis are boarding a small, working cruise ship (CruiseWest which carries only 100 plus people, instead of one of the big honkers that bring us close to 3000 people a pop) and going out cruising. They'll be flying home before next weekend so this is our only chance. It's misty today which is the weather I prefer here, but at least they got to see bright sunshine yesterday if that is what they like. The temp will be at around 65 for a high today and was in the low 70s yesterday. Will report back later. (We'll take good care of them, but we might try to keep them. OK?) |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: Bill D Date: 21 May 05 - 11:42 AM *waving hello*...I didn't even know they had headed that way...my wife knew, but she never tells me anything...*grin* The Cook's hobby is "not staying home"...and they do SUCH a good job of it. ;>)) (I think they are following the Salmon that Alaska Mike brought to the Getaway the last couple years!) |

Subject: RE: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 21 May 05 - 08:48 AM Any time you have a chance to enjoy Dennis and Judy's company and their singing, consider yourself blessed. When the Gospel Messengers did a concert in D.C. three years ago, they put up our bass singer and his wife at the house, and prepared a royal buffet breakfast and song swap for all of us the next morning. Talk about gracious folks. They're right up there with jimmyt and his wife, Jayne. Jerry |

Subject: Mudcats Ahoy! Judy and Dennis Cook From: Ebbie Date: 21 May 05 - 04:33 AM What fun it was tonight! At our regular Friday Night music, one of our regulars called and asked if she could bring some friends from out of town. It was fine, although space is somewhat limited since I can no longer have music at my house, because we didn't expect many of the usual group to show up- there were a lot of things going on in town tonight. Anyway, the minute I shook hands with Debbie Johnson's guests I thought they looked familiar, although I couldn't place them. They were from Maryland, they said. It was not until the second song of theirs that I realized where I had seen them- at the Getaway! I had a great time with them, although I'm sure they were groggy from a very long day. They had been up almost 24 hours at this point. But they are wonderful people and sing beautifully. They sang a couple of river songs/shanteys and sang along with everyone else and then Judy did the inimitable Tails and Trotters. I don't know what their plans are for tomorrow night but if they're up for music, we'll get it for them! |
