Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Lorcan Otway, new project... Amy Gray From: GUEST,AmandaPlainandTall Date: 29 Jun 05 - 05:25 PM Thanks again for the kind words, all. I'm getting some big things in my life sewed up and then maybe stage fright won't be quite so crippling. It's shut me up twice, but most likely not forever. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Lorcan Otway, new project... Amy Gray From: InOBU Date: 29 Jun 05 - 12:22 PM Ah Mick; We do in deed have to get together. I beg to differ with you, there is no obligation to the blessed! We are given many talents, and Amanda is blessed with so many it makes one's head spin! I am sure one of these day we may hear great things from and about her, as a writer, a... thousand and one things which her gifts to which will lead her... or she may lead a quiet and spectular life in the small haven of a family I am sure she will have some day ( her gifts with children are as impressive as her singing ) But, if she ever choses to sing again in public or on CD, I would be more than privalged to be asked along. As to my writing... I don't know... the song above, for example, so many of my songs are just re-hashings of other people's stuff. It is the curse of the folkie... I am rather sure the above song is just a retelling of a Furey Brothers and Davie Arthur song, I just can't quite place. It seemed to familier when I wrote it. Give me a shout, maybe come into New York some tuesday night for a sessun, Mick-a-vic cheers lor |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Lorcan Otway, new project... Amy Gray From: Big Mick Date: 29 Jun 05 - 09:34 AM Amanda, I know how this feels. I sure hope you make your way through. I have never heard you sing, but people I respect, whose opinions I cherish, (such as Steve) indicate to me you have one of the great instruments in your voice. There is a certain obligation when one is blessed. I hope you make your way through the fog and come out the other side singing. Lorcan will be there, I am sure, waiting to apply those wonderful pipes in new and interesting ways. Lor, keep writing, I love your way with it. I am in South Jersey now and we need to get together at some point. All the best to both, Mick |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Lorcan Otway, new project... Amy Gray From: InOBU Date: 28 Jun 05 - 03:21 AM Dear dear dear dear Kat L! Where and what is the Getaway 2006... I have been away, in a land of dreams - wonderful visions and pain (no, not the bug house Gargoyle... :) ) but, anyway, like your recent illness, which I wish I had been around to offer you love and light for, I was neglectful of this dear world of ours, so forgive me not knowing about this and many other things. Your dear friend dear dear friend lor |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Lorcan Otway, new project... Amy Gray From: Suffet Date: 26 Jun 05 - 12:01 PM As one of the lucky few who actually heard Amanda Gareis perform live, I am really sorry that she has chosen not to sing in public again. I am doubly sorry that the CD project is dead. The one and only time I heard Amanda, I was transfixed. And this is said by someone who has heard Joan Baez up close, and who has heard intimate performances by the likes of Peggy Seeger, Sheila Kay Adams, Jean Ritchie, and each of the Johnson Girls. Maybe Amanda will change her mind. Until then I will cherish the memory. --- Steve |

Subject: Lyr Add: Lorcan Otway, new project... Amy Gray From: InOBU Date: 26 Jun 05 - 11:02 AM Well some of you were waiting for the CD from the new project, built around the excellent singing and wild tallents of Amanda Gareis... well... wait no longer! That project is dead. SO, it is back to pick up bands and working on a new CD... new songs... fewer hopes, darker darks... but wishing for light someday... here is one of the songs for the new CD. I have been playing with some wonderful people, and hope a new band is going to emerge someday... but, new bands in New York... well it is almost a joke with the folk venues closing faster than republicans spinning lies.... Goody bye Amy Gray So you're off now, good luck, I wish you the best as you leave new ruins behind. It wont be the first time, I hope its the last I hope you do better this time. Each new life you try, in the stories you tell you've left broken hearts all the way so good bye to you now Amy bye to you now Amy, Good bye to you now, Amy Gray. You've shown me the notes from others you've hurt They still care and you often ask why I get the impression when your done with a friend you expect them to crawl off and die. So now you can tell new friends stories of me and all will be believe all you say so good bye to you now Amy bye to you now Amy, Good bye to you now, Amy Gray. You hide behind boundaries you never extend to respect others in kind you never cared much for the boundaries to those broken hearts that you've left behind When faced with honesty you run and hide and in fury push true hearts away so good bye to you now Amy bye to you now Amy, Good bye to you now, Amy Gray. I never expected a thing from you child for all you accepted from me While each promise in anger you've broken Wee girl, with never an apology So now as I gather up all that you broke there is only one last thing to say good bye to you now Amy bye to you now Amy, Good bye to you now, Amy Gray. |
