Just picked daughter up from the camp, which she thoroughly enjoyed btw, and was told by one lad that the funnel formed during a storm, touched the woodland on a hilltop about a mile away, and then faded away.
Scarey!

Apparently, Britain gets more twisters per sq mile than any other country in the world. However, generally speaking they are not too big and tend to be along the coast or just off shore (water-spouts)

Which direction Paul? I'm South along the A6 near Cromford.
BTW, odd thead title was due to editing 1st attempt at title after running out of characters. Should have read "Anyone else WITH children at Peak 2005"

Chatsworth too, only 5 miles up the road from me...

I don't know how many twisters the UK normally gets, but we've had several damaging ones this year already.

I'll look out for guides landing on local witches.

Got my 13yo daughter there with the Guides and been looking at the pics on the website.
Looks like they had a narrow escape with this one:-
Could this be what I think it is?
