I've got a copy here that will give the tunes that way but it (SW) is a dated proprietry format. To post here, I'd guess an abc is as good as anything. I think it is much better than a MIDI and a MIDI can be made frome one a lot more reliably than making an abc into a midi. The only difficulty I know of whith an abc for posting to sites is it can contain the short hand dotted notation, eg. < and that can cause problems. |

And you *could* post the ABC's of the tune as well, but then again, if you did that you wouldn't be able to moan about it, would you? |

Subject: RE: Tech: MC/DT stable enough for midi's again? From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Oct 05 - 04:00 AM Hi, Garg - The trouble with MIDI files is that our FTP is down, so I can't upload. If you start sending me files, then I'll push to get Max and Jeff to get FTP working again. Dick and Susan are harvesting songs for the Digital Tradition. The 2005 edition of the database is still not ready for distribution, although I've been using an unfinished copy of it. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: Tech: MC/DT stable enough for midi's again? From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 12 Oct 05 - 09:54 PM A half year ago - Joe suggested that new midi files should not be uploaded for Dick and Susan's DIGITAL TRADITION (a task Max undertook without filtering UK crapola)
Is the MC currently stable enough to allow uploading of DT midi? Is there a possibility of it being included in the forthcoming collection. I have some homestead stuff...never before seen on the net...from oral family trad.... but unless it has a remote chance of even being considered for the DT...I will not post.
Is there currently, a "better address" to post AMERICAN Trad (100 years or more) for collection into a data base.
The last three years on the MC have been disappointing....No doubt, my best option is to prepare a "web-page" and submit it to the LOC.
Sincerely,
Things ain't what they used to be - with poor Max out of work, suffering and in pain, and a family with chillen to maintain |
