Subject: RE: BS: happy birthday to me From: black walnut Date: 24 Oct 05 - 02:05 PM Hi Tannywheeler, Yes, isn't that the best thing about getting older? You get to shop at old lady stores with elastic waist banded pants! Comfort and cream cheese above all else, I agree. Hi Morticia, The present meds are working so-so. I keep increasing the dosage and they're less frequent. (I still consider a migraine-free day a thing to celebrate - forget the birthdays!). I get to see my friendly neighbourhood neurologist on Oct. 31. How're you these days? Hi CarolC, I've been called many things in my life but never a balnut! The thing about 50 is to look it straight in the face and laugh. Or sing. Or eat twizzlers. Everything that's good seems all that much more precious on the other side of the hill. Hi Kat, And what life would be complete without cats??? Did I tell you that my crazy cat Elliott likes to bring my girlchild's clothes, blankets, towels and pillows from her bedroom down to the living room? He tried to drag the whole laundry basket full of clothes downstairs yesterday! Lewis just watches, meows, and shakes his head in bewilderment. Elderberry ignores the whole thing. On another topic, are you doing more writing??? And yes, I am going into the studio again in February. At least that's the plan! Hugs to all, ~b.w. |

Sounds as if it was a good one and congrats on the no migraines! May it continue to be so for you. 51? You're only half way there...still a lot to do, see, sing, hear, plant, and write, OH, AND record! luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: happy birthday to me From: Tannywheeler Date: 24 Oct 05 - 11:25 AM Awright, hilda fish. A new song..... Many happy returns, b.w.. I don't remember that far back, either, but I had to live thru it to make this age. Life just keeps getting more and more fun. Isn't that carrot cake with cream cheese icing? I'll have another piece..... Tw |

Subject: RE: BS: happy birthday to me From: black walnut Date: 24 Oct 05 - 11:23 AM Monkeys, marshmallows and sausage....what a treat. Thanks! JeffM gave me a huge package of red Twizzlers and a gigantic Cadbury chocolate bar he'd brought back for me from England last week. My nuclear family gave me The Famous Blue Raincoat/ L. Cohen songs by Jennifer Warnes, and season 6 DVD of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (We already have seasons 1 to 5). Seems like everybody in my life has good taste. The music last night at the Flying Cloud Folk Club was wonderful. Old Thyme music - James Leva and Camp Mountain. Erin Marshall and Chris Coole opened for them - Erin told me she'll teach me Appalachian drone fiddle. Cool!!! May everyone's fiftyfirsts be so blessedly fine, ~b.w. |

Subject: BS: happy NON birthday to me From: black walnut Date: 23 Oct 05 - 05:10 PM 51 is such a NON birthday! 50 was so "WOW". I had 5 parties, one for every decade, and five cakes at the party on my actual birthday. It was a time to enjoy all the very special friends and family in my life. Today is just calm and peaceful and good...it doesn't hurt that it's a grey rainy day and the leaves are so beautifully coloured red and yellow and orange(I love this time of year), and that I'm going out to hear some really good folk music tonight - James Leva - with some very good friends. And I haven't had a migraine since Friday - that's the best gift of all. 51 feels old, and settled, and wrinkly, and grey-haired, but at the same time I can still dance and play and sing and laugh and - renovate (we're painting the whole house, and planting bulbs in the new front yard garden). Any other thoughts on 51??? ~b.w. |
