Subject: RE: Festivals USA early June From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 10 Feb 06 - 10:20 AM Check Dirty Linen for a festival guide. Unfortunately, a number of festivals are late to report their event to the magazine. You can check online at www.dirtylinen.com |

Subject: RE: Festivals USA early June From: Barbara Shaw Date: 10 Feb 06 - 09:41 AM New London is about 10 miles or 15 minutes away from Mystic and about 25 miles or 35 minutes from Preston, according to Mapquest. I've never been to the Mystic Seaport festival, but the town itself is worth visiting, even just walking down Main Street. Strawberry Park in Preston is a beautiful campground with resort-like facilities and an incredible bluegrass lineup for this festival. Both are definitely close enough. |

Subject: RE: Festivals USA early June From: matai Date: 10 Feb 06 - 08:19 AM Thanks. I guess Mystic is the closest. I've heard about it here before and thought I'd like to go there, it looks like such a gorgeous place. Could even contribute my version of the 'Female Rambling Sailor' if there is an open section. I'll be in New London, which I know is about one/two? hours away. How close is that to Preston btw, it would be great to get two festivals. Mind you my dream is to hang out with Joan Baez and the like. (Maybe another time) Now to see if this would be all okay with my daughter and book my plane tickets. |

Subject: RE: Festivals USA early June From: Barry Finn Date: 09 Feb 06 - 11:35 PM You are in luck!!! The 27 annual Mystic Seaport Sea Music Festival will be held at Mystic, Conn. on June 8-11. By far one of the best sea music festival in the States. & if you're in Conn. you can't be far from there. Some of the likely performers (does anyone have a performers list yet) & some staff you may find are catters & you'll be sure to meet many other catters as festival go'ers. Hope you can make it & hope to meet you there. Barry |

Subject: RE: Festivals USA early June From: Janie Date: 09 Feb 06 - 11:11 PM I don't know how current most of the information is, but if you click 'links' at the top of the page (not 'quick links') and then select folk festivals and venues, there is a substantial number of links. Unfortunately, there is no info on that page about when festivals occur. Don't know that you will be travelling that far south when you cross the country, but the "Glenville Folk Festival" at Glenville, WV is early to mid-June. Mostly old-time, bluegrass and string band music. Janie |

Subject: Festivals USA early June From: matai Date: 09 Feb 06 - 10:19 PM As a New Zealander planning to travel to Connecticutt in early June I'd like to take in a Festival if there is one in the vicinity, or on the way from the West Coast. How would I go about finding information? Is there an American Folk Festivals Directory like the one we have here? I'm a song writer so contemporary folk is more in my interest but I love all kinds of music. |
