Subject: RE: forgive my ignorance--about Jean Ritchie From: Big Mick Date: 26 Feb 06 - 10:46 PM Sure am glad you weren't afraid to ask the question. Anyone who is serious in our genre knows that Jean is folk music's greatest living treasure. The fact that you asked shows that you are serious. Be sure to stop by Jean's website and start to build your collection of her music. And to second Steve Suffet, you have never met a nicer and more welcoming person. Amazes me yet. Don't forget, MIC, that as you become familiar with and learn to love this music, that it is incumbent on you to pass it on. Goes with the turf. All the best, Mick |

MIC P.S. Now I remember exactly what I was looking for when Jean Richie (aka Kytrad cleared up that diction. Thanks, Jean! |

They did a book together called "From Fair to Fair" all about the songs associated with folk events all over the British Isles. The photographs are all fantastic. Of all the books I have sold that is one of the ones I wished I had kept. Dave |

At certain times she is very active here but her real world life is still going pretty strong as well so we don't always see her as much as some of us would like...........Mother of the Appalachian Dulcimer and the First Lady of Folk! Watch for the "Kytrad" posts. We love you Jean! Spaw |
