Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Ovingham Fair From: Jim Dixon Date: 27 Feb 06 - 10:13 PM For what it's worth: a tune called OVINGHAM GOOSE FAIR is in The Northumbrian Pipers' Second Tune Book. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Ovingham Fair From: Purple Foxx Date: 23 Feb 06 - 02:46 PM I believe it may be modernish. Though certainly not more recent than the mid-80's.Thanks for your input. Here's hoping. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Ovingham Fair From: TheBigPinkLad Date: 23 Feb 06 - 11:47 AM PF, I don't recall a tune or song of this name and I haven't turned anyup on web searches; it's very evocative of Whittingham/Scarborough Fair of course. Is it modern? i.e. maybe it was written recently just for the Goose Fair? There are some knowledgeable N-pipers on this list and other N-ophiles who may be more familiar than I. |

Subject: Lyr Req: Ovingham Fair From: Purple Foxx Date: 23 Feb 06 - 07:13 AM Know this a slightly obscure one. Though it is usually played on the Northumbrian pipes, I do remember having heard it sung on at least one occasion (at Ovingham Goose Fair appropriately enough.) Has nothing to do with China Drum. Other than that any ideas? |
