I'm sorry Bun, but the only ones that could lay claim to any semblance of honesty would be those who are prepared to ignore the whips and speak out, and vote, against the crooks, and they are rarer than hens' teeth.

If you run with the hounds, you are a hound.

... but as the animals found when they looked from the pigs to the men and back again, they could not tell the difference...

(paraphrased from Animal Farm)

I dislike this slandering of all MPs. I personally know a number of MPs, and they are all honest and hard working. Some of them are even lawyers.

Yes, some MPs are in the pockets of big business, the unions or rich freinds, which are all as bad as each other. But not all of them.

Ah but Paul he wouldn't be able to go within a 1 mile radius of the Houses of Parliament, as they have passed yet another repressive law banning the right to demonstrate in that area. This is because they were having their consciences slightly stirred by an anti-war protester in Parliament Square, who ironically is still there because they didn't frame the law properly, and he has been allowed by the courts to continue his protest, and good luck to him too.
The old saw about there being only two types of MPs, i.e. those who are lawyers and those who are not, rings hollow in the face of their ineptitude in drawing up new laws.
So they will continue to be embarassed by this brave man on their way to and from their 4 days a week job, with the 3 months a year holidays at this meagre wage. Actually it has gone up since that was published and is now nearly £60,000 + allowances, as they unlike most people get an annual increase, and it's usually above the inflation rate.
Most of them are pigs all eating from the trough of our taxes, and many of them also have another income on top of this generous salary.
So why with the joint income of a cabinet minister and a lawyer coming into a house which is mortgage free did Tessa Jowell's husband need to "borrow" money?

They're as bent as the Tories before them. Slavering over freebies, little directorships on the side, bent planning deals, quango jobs for when they retire... and telling us we'll have to work till we drop because the rich can't afford to support the pension system. My grandfather, lifelong Labour supporter, and proud that HIS gold watch was from the union, not the bosses, would be marching on London by now.

Yes Ake, but look how rewarding it is. Where now is the twice resigned and disgraced Peter Mandelson?

Looks like another minister in the discredited Blair govt is about to be forced to resign, after speculation on what can only be construed as "money laundering" by her husband and herself.
Jowett scandal

I've lost count of the number crooks who have been uncovered among Blairs closest associates, and they have the temerity to preach to us about democratic values...Ake
