No luck, I'm afraid, Paul:-( Asked round at the club last night as well and it didn't ring any bells.

Funny thing is that I was brought up (well, dragged up then!) in Swinton, the whole of 2 miles from Salford, and we didn't like Salford people:-0 Perhaps playground rhymes were very regional indeed!

Keep us posted if you find any more though and thanks for sharing it with us anyway:-)

Cheers

Dave

No, different- the tune's (I think) "Kerfoozalum" or a bit like it, and the whole thing sounds like one of those (perhaps) home grown local music-hall things like "Down Came the Blind" etc.

Thanks, Paul:-) I only remember -

"There was an old man caled Michael Finnigan
He grew whiskers on his chinigan
The wind came out and blew them in again
Poor old Michael Finnigan"

Guess they could be incorporated - Or were they two completely different songs?

Cheers

Maybe a case for Dave the Gnome...This came to mind, and I can't find it in DT or the forum. Sung by my Dad, Salford 50s/60s:

Our Annie's very fat
And she thought she'd have to get thin again,
All the neighbours told her that
She'd have to go to Doctor Finnegan,
Finnegan told her what to do,
Charged her half a crown-
He said, if you want to get rid of your fat,
You'll have to melt it down...

Anyone know any more?
