Takes me back. Abou 35 years ago a friend was importing (into England) Nepalese shmutter, and my (then) girlfriend bought a waiscoat from him.
She was horrified when someone told her that the embroidery was a Marijuana shrub. I still rib her about it.

Ok...I quite like the black background, especially for the front page as it makes the colours stand out better, but the blue looks ok too.

PLEASE take the apostrophe out of pahmina's on the front page though. An apostrophe there means 'belonging to pashmina' not the plural of pashmina. Plurals don't have apostrophes. (I was really tempted to put an apostrophe in 'apostrophes' just then, but resisted the urge!)

Love Lynne

caff and kev!

Welcome to Mudcat! And thanks for letting us know about your site.

The colors look fine for me, though the font is kinda hard on my eyes. BUT-you can't please everyone, so if you like that font, keep it.

By the way, if you're trying to get American {USA} customers, do you have anything that says what the prices are in American money?

I wish you much success in your business.

And I hope that you will post comments on other Mudcat threads.
If you have any questions about how to navigate this website, Mudcat members-including me- would be glad to answer them for you. You can click on the pm letters across from the poster's name to send a private message.

Share, learn, enjoy!

The blue background looks fine, to my eyes it makes the colours look brighter.

I get an overlap with these lines though:

Lovely site and lovely things I would like to buy but I did spot a spurious apostrophe in "pashminas" on the Home Page.

Nice stuff! I found the text easy to read and the colours were fine for my eyes though I apreciate that can be an individual thing. In quite a few places there are , and . where the capital letter of the next sentence follows imediately on without a space. The usual convention is to leave one space. Also, as reported above, there are several places where one lot of txt overwrites another. I have tried it usung all the browsers that I have on my PC, I.E, Firefox, Opera and Netscape and they all have the same problem , but often in different places! In fact the page layour was LEAST stable in I.E with top and side page borders overlapping each other and the like.

I am affraid I do not have the technical know how to tell you what to do to correct these problems but most of the websites I visit seem to load and run ok on this PC either in Firefox or IE so I dont think it is a problem with how I have it set up. Hope this helps.

Beautiful clothing and wonderful that you support the knitters, etc. directly. Thanks for letting us know.

The different font looks better, but the green text is still very hard to read, imo. I understand wanting to keep the theme of bright colours, but the clothes really speak for themselves, in that way. I think white text would be better on the black background, or, change the background to a cream or white and then use a good blue or something for the text. It would make it much easier to read and leave a better first impression.

Namaste!

kat

I think the bright colours are fine...they suggest very well the stuff you sell. And I personally love bright colours and rainbows. The world is too dull.

This is a problem we are coming across, not stocking enough sizes for everyone..but it will come..in the future, hopefully. Some of our jumpers are smaller then others and on the blow up photos an actual size is there. It is good to here we are on somebodies favourites list though..thanking you most kindly..and also for all the other help too. Well have a look at the help site..but the bright colours we have chosen are due to the nature of the clothing we sell...and we want to stick with those.

I humbly suggest you give some consideration to the following:

Welcome to Gourangaoo Clothing Emporium. Our name is derived from the Buddhist word 'Gouranga', which means 'be happy'. We like to think our colourful designs bring joy to the people who wear them. 'Happy Clothes for Happy People': that is our motto!
Our individually hand knitted items, designed by ourselves, are made from 100% natural materials in the Kathmandu Valley where we have a close network of good Nepalese friends working with us to create the clothing. With a wide variety of wool-bearing animals existing in Nepal, woolen items have traditionally played an important part in everyday life. Today, high quality sheep wool and angora wool from the Himalayan snow-clad part of the kingdom are used to create beautiful knitwear sweaters, jumpers, jackets, ponchos, shawls, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens.
The women of Nepal make the knitwear based on both traditional Nepalese and classic western motifs and are available in a beautiful range of fashionable colours, sizes and designs.
Although we carry certain stock lines, we can have your own designs incorporated into the jumpers; simply send your ideas to us. Due to the extra time and work incurred by our team of knitters the cost would be more, depending on the complexity of the details involved.

I corrected a few typos. Love the site and especially that you practise the Free Trade philosophy. All the best to you.

Cool stuff! I've bookmarked the site and will be ordering from you when I can afford to. This is not to say that the stuff is expensive, just that I'm broke! Medium sounds a bit big to me...I only take a size 10 in most clothes. I'm obviously built for speed rather than comfort!

The site looks good, though when I clicked on pashminas, nothing happened. However, that may be my set up, which is a bit old.
Good luck with it.

Love Lynne

Those tops are beautiful!
There seems to be some problem on your site with print overprinting other print.
If you are hitting the "folkie" market, you might want to consider carrying Plus Sizes. Some of us are built for comfort not for speed.
I was in Tibet many years ago and found Sherpa boots - bright red wool with embroidery. I could have started a business selling them in NYC. You may want to look into adding them to your line.

Very interesting stuff - not entirely what I expected.

The site's fairly good, and the images load up pretty quickly, even on dial-up - and that's a major stumbling block on a lot of sites.

The only negative thing I can say is that the font used for description - blue against a black ground - is very difficult to read (at least, on my screen). I'd suggest a different colour for the background, perhaps even a font that displays more cleanly.

Other than that one thing, it's looking good. Best of luck to you.

Hello, sorry to those we have already offended and thanks to those who offered costructive advise. Now we want to reach the rest of you.We are a small business selling handcrafted Nepalese clothing. We started visiting folk festivals last year..only the small ones as we find then the friendliest and easiest to also enjoy the music at. Not to mention being more laid back about the bottles of wine we keep in the van whilst selling..to keep the days rolling along nicely. We dont take it too seriously as for us it is more about having a fun weekend than seelling loads. If people do like our stuff, all the better. Anyway..less warbling....we have a website and we would appreciate reviews of it from the folks that would appreciate our stuff our address is
website
if you dont wish to look at the site, wed be extremely greatful if you could download a copy of our poster and print it out and put it up in your meeting places, locals etc..just to help us get our name out there.

Many thanks for listening
