But Divis isn't it the City airport that is being renamed after George Best not the International airport?

That´s the city Airport in east Belfast . Belfast International Airport is actually in Antrim, not that close to the city, flying into it in morning. The plan was to name the West link in Belfast after George Best. It links the M1 to the M2 motorways. Great idea as it´s always blocked !

The man was a great footballer, but made a fool out of himself in later years. One can only recall Jack Doyle and Alex Higgins, but neither wasted a human organ. Sadly too many forget that side of his life and see the re runs of a goal he scored in 1969.

A family signed a form to allow their loved ones organ to be given to this man, never forget that. When you watch a family say goodbye to their son, daughter, father or mother for the last time as the go for the removal of their liver to give someone else a life, it puts the image of George Best into focus.

Guest, its in east Belfast not far from where the Heysham ferry comes in, if that helps. Its off the Sydenham by-pass. If you know where the Odyssey Pavillion is follow the Sydenham Rd. to Airport Rd. and Bob's youe uncle.

Alcoholism is a terrible disease. I don't really think that George Best chose the particular road he took.

I loved Bestie as a player in the '60s, but he was never really focussed on the game for long enough to make the impact that he should have done. Once the drink took over he became a mess.

Did you know that when Liverpool airport changed it's name to John Lennon airport their motto became a line out of 'Imagine' - Ie 'Above us only sky'.

The baggage handlers decided to adopt their own line from the same song. Imagine no posessions...

I'll get my bag.

Cheers

Without doubt a great footballer, as for the rest of his contribution to society, when his football days ended he was only a drunken messer.

Worrying times ahead for frequent flyers to Northern ireland.

Belfast City Airport is going to be renamed George Best Airport in memory of the great footballer who died last year.

A legend in his and our lifetime without a doubt

But changes to consider will include the questions of

Will the runway remain straight?

Will pilots be allowed to drink?
