Oh no, it's never too late to admit to liking accordions. June is just the "best" month to do it because the support groups are all geared up. The blankets are all freshly washed, coffee is freshly brewed, extra doctors are on call, and the pharmacies are stocked up on anti-psychotics.

But this thread is not really about music. It's not really about accordions, even. It's about accordion abuse, which is either a religious doctrine or a social problem, depending upon one's perspective. That makes it either a religion thread or a socio-political thread.

And we all know what that means, right? It means June is in the past, which makes National Accordion Appreciation Month officially over and done with! Those of us with natural inclinations toward accordion abuse are once again free to indulge the more base sides of our natures!!

June has indeed been a wearisome month for yours truly. It's a miracle I survived thirty days of being forced against my will to appreciate music of the squeezed-from-a-box variety. How many times during the last month have I heard "Lady of Spain" and automatically reached for my radio dial only to have a little voice say, "But Beezer, it's National Accordion Appreciation Month! You must appreciate being subjected to 'Beer Barrel Polka' day in and day out! It's the law! If you don't, they'll come to your house and take all the guitars away, replace them with cheap Chinese-made accordions, and send some guy around at 4:00 PM every day to make sure you practice for two hours!"

But now I am free! If I want to say "Myron Floren blows!" or "Lawrence Welk eats big green weenies!" there's nothing they can do to stop me! Bwahahahaha!

Well... Not for another 332 days, anyway...
