Lampeter's not in North Wales - it's southern Mid-Wales. I think John was from Aberystwyth - I used to see him around when I was at University there. Great player.

Remember him well, wasn't he from Lampeter in N Wales? Probably gone on to do better things.

I dont know about performing but there was a re-issue of two of his Vinyls on a CD in the last few years, Amazon have it listed here

I last saw John perform 5 years ago in Cardiff, no news since though.

Eddie is still working like a trouper.

He was a great player and probably still is , but things seemed to drift when he opted to go into the direction of a Chet Atkins type / electric guitar style, instead of ( what made him liked by the Folk following ) an acoustic style with open string / DADGAD etc types of arrangements .
Really nice guy, I hope he is doing well - as I hope is Eddie Walker.

I only saw him the once, but I remember both his superb playing and his very funny patter. He also wrote some lovely songs, including "If Only I", which Spreadthick recorded.

I used to love John's playing. He was also a bit of a wit. I remember him introducing his version of Django's "Tears" by saying that Django only had proper use of two fingers on his fretting hand, but that he usually played so fast that he only had time to use two fingers!
