Bee, if you need any help with chording, there are some awesome sites on the internet. Also, I have played for about 25 years in total, and if I can be of help please let me know on this thread. I am a regular member (was, anyway), so I will bookmark this and visit every two days or so.

R-J, it is. I've always enjoyed Hemsworth's 'Log Driver's Waltz', but only heard this one a few days ago. Now I want to get hold of recordings of all his songs.

That Dm chord is killin' my hand muscles, though (I know:practice). I called a friend who's been playing country music for twenty years and asked him if there might be an easier finger configuration, and his response was: "Dm? You don't need it, nobody uses it much anyway."

I need another mentor.

And, if anyone wondered, the above chords are working nicely for singing with - my voice loves minor chords.

Thanks, Frank. I should be able to work it out from there.

And Guest, I've noticed that!

I'm at a rather advanced (middle... er... late middle)age for learning an entirely new skill, but I know a lady who waited until she was 72 to take up the guitar, and she is presently, at 80, performing regularly at local benefits and dos.

I've no intention of performing except for friends and family, but I'm striving not to hurt their ears too much. I live far in the Maritime boonies, and so am primarily teaching myself from books and websites - especially this one: I've spent hours reading guitar threads here.

Frank's the guy ya gotta thank. However, if you ever need help with chords, please say so. Lots of people here who really do know their stuff AND are willing to help "newbies". (Most of us can recall when we were in the same place, and we can also recall the many folks who lent us a hand. Always a pleasure to pass it on.)

Have I told you people lately how much I love you? Thanks, Guest and Francy.

This learning to play guitar business is making me obsessive about learning songs I like. I'm just now beginning to be able to recognize the occasional chord in a song, so the help I get here is very, very much appreciated.

Francy,

Could you fit the chords in for Bee?

WILD GOOSE
(Wade Hemsworth)

On Pukaskwa river so early this morning,
While mending my tumpline I hear the geese calling.
Over the brule, long clamoring cry,
Flying formation against the grey sky

Comes the wild goose,
The wild goose,
High over the north shore
And I'm going home.

Bee, I can only find the midi. It changes keys. Much of it's minor. I will do my best to get at it this weekend. OK? Unless someone has the chords and can post them before them. I won't forget you, but please understand that I've never heard the song before and you may have to chane a chord or two, but I'll get the majority of them correct. Back in two days or sooner if I can.

Could some kind person give me an idea of the chords for this beautiful song? I have diligently searched, honest!

Also, I've tried to register several times now and keep being told I haven't typed in a password when I have. Mind you, computer is very old and dialup browser is touch and go - there are many things I can't do online, including listen to tune files.:-(
