I didn't realize that Kander and Ebb did the lyrics and music for Cabaret (1966) and Chicago (1975).

Whee! I just did a quick search for who recorded it and came up with (I think in order of recording & release):

Kitty Kallen (charted 1963), Sandy Stewart (charted 1963), Barbra Streisand, Chad & Jeremy, Brenda Lee, Dusty Springfield, Andy Williams, Kate Smith, Percy Faith, John Kander, Sarah Vaughan, AND THE WORLD GOES `ROUND Original Cast, Brenda Pressley, Aretha Franklin, Joni James, Julie London, Jane Morgan, Cliff Richard, Caterina Valente, Chris Farlow, Nana Mouskouri, Agnetha Faltskog .

It was written, of course, by John Kander and Fred Ebb.

Believe it or not, if awakened in the middle of the night, I can probably still sing this song from 1962. I was in junior high school and pining for a fellow who was ignoring me. Ah, early teen angst!

Anyway, it was also covered by Andy Williams, I believe. I know at the time several people sang it on television. Not sure if it was being played on the Top 40 stations I listened to then.

Didn't think anyone rememberd this song.

This song was an entry in the Eurovision Song Contest a Very Long Time ago !!! 1961-62-maybe ?? I am sure I was still at school at the time !! I can"t remember which country"s entry it was, but it was sung by NANA MOUSKOURI, of Greece, and did quite well,I think. I have always loved NANA singing this song----forget old False Cogs !!

Agnetha was (of course) formerly of ABBA. A group who regularly displayed a discernible Folk influence.

Lyrics World has this transcription of Barbra Streisand's cover of the song. Kitty Kallen and Sandy Stewart are also listed as having recorded it. It's a really lousy transcription, so I've fixed it as much as I can recall (with help from a Hal Leonard fakebook, which doesn't have the introductory verse).
Who Wrote That Song? says the song was introduced by Kay Ballard, which sounds right to me.

MY COLORING BOOK
Barbra Streisand
Written by Fred Ebb (words) & John Kander (music), 1962

For those who fancy coloring books
And lots of people do
He's a new one for you

A most unusual coloring book
The kind you never see
Crayons ready, very well
Begin to color me

These are the eyes that watched him
As he walked away
Color them grey

This is the heart that thought
He would always be true
Color it blue

These are the arms that held him
And touched him, then lost him somehow
Color them empty now

These are the beads (tie) I wore
Until she came between
Color them (it) green

This is the room I sleep in
And walk in and weep in
And hide in that nobody sees
Color it lonely, please

This is the man
The one I depended upon
Color him gone...

THE SECOND BARBRA STREISAND ALBUM, 1963

(the male version has a green tie, says the fakebook. You can figure out for yourself how to changes the he's and she's)
Or could it be that the requested song is "Love Is Blue"?

I truly hope this thread is not connected with the Orlando Bloom angst.
