Subject: RE: BS: Any Catters in Second Life? From: Azizi Date: 28 Nov 07 - 08:45 PM I think Ms. Lemon may be talking about this: "Second Life (abbreviated as SL) is an Internet-based virtual world launched in 2003, developed by Linden Research, Inc (commonly referred to as Linden Lab), which came to international attention via mainstream news media in late 2006 and early 2007.[4][5] A downloadable client program called the Second Life Viewer enables its users, called "Residents", to interact with each other through motional avatars, providing an advanced level of a social network service combined with general aspects of a metaverse. Residents can explore, meet other Residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, create and trade items (virtual property) and services from one another. Second Life is one of several virtual worlds that have been inspired by the cyberpunk literary movement, and particularly by Neal Stephenson's novel Snow Crash. The stated goal of Linden Lab is to create a world like the Metaverse described by Stephenson, a user-defined world in which people can interact, play, do business, and otherwise communicate..." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Life That entry says a person can have multiple identities in Second Life. Besides for that [?], at first read anyway, it sounds a lot like what happens at Mudcat. |

Subject: RE: BS: Any Catters in Second Life? From: Azizi Date: 28 Nov 07 - 09:02 PM I forgot to say that I'm not a Second Lifer or what ever the "Residents" of Second Life are called. It seems like it would take a lot of time to live a Second Life while you're living this one*...But then again, I spend a lot of time hanging out at Mudcat. Hmmm. * Note that I didn't say "your first one", since I believe in reincarnation. |

Subject: RE: BS: Any Catters in Second Life? From: CarolC Date: 28 Nov 07 - 11:08 PM I have an avatar there, and dwditty has one. I think there may be a few others, but he's the only one I've met in Second Life. He's done a few gigs there, which I've tried to attend a few times, but I always seem to show up a bit too late. |

Subject: RE: BS: Any Catters in Second Life? From: PoppaGator Date: 29 Nov 07 - 03:25 PM I just responded to the other current thread on this topic. I tried to join but never managed to find my way "all the way in." Couldn't take the time. I have a SL name but not an avatar. Details elsewhere. |
