Subject: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: RangerSteve Date: 28 Jun 09 - 06:18 PM I've been trying to do some searches on Yahoo today. Everytime I click on a website, I get a page informing me that the site is not available, or in some cases, I get connected to a completely different and unrelated webpage. If I just type in the web address, I can get the connected with no problems. The websites exist, but I can't connect to them through yahoo. Has anyone else experienced this? |

Subject: RE: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 28 Jun 09 - 07:05 PM I can't speak to your particular problem, but I had been having troubles with Yahoo, and went to their homepage. I found that I had been, without request from me or notice to me, shifted to a different version of their software. All I had to do to clear up my troubles was to request changing back to the "traditional" program, and they went away. You might just look into that. Dave Oesterreich |

Subject: RE: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: WalkaboutsVerse Date: 29 Jun 09 - 05:03 PM When I made my occasional check by googling "walkaboutsverse" today, I got a faulty-site message on my sitegoz (e-scroll) link, even though it worked okay in the address bar - I just rechecked and the message has gone..? |

Subject: RE: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: robomatic Date: 30 Jun 09 - 01:33 PM I've had exactly the same thing going on. I put it down to malware even though my malware seeker says it ain't so. |

Subject: RE: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: catspaw49 Date: 30 Jun 09 - 01:45 PM Dave has a good point re: Yahoo and also I would flush the memory and do a cold reboot of the modem and computer. See what happens then. WavyFWBR up there still has a problem. The real error is when any of his sites DO come up! Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Jun 09 - 03:55 PM If you've recently downloaded and installed Internet Explorer 8, that thing is nosy and ponderous and hangs all of the time. I get that error message regularly when I use it. I do use it still for a few things (some security pages will only load via IE), but I switched over to use Firefox most of the time. My next door neighbor inquired about a company to come out to fix her computer. I told her not to waste her money paying someone and headed over to help (I've worked on it before, and I think she feels guilty because it always takes a while. But what are neighbors for?). I started by rebooting her modem and router, then turned to check the machine. I finally got IE to run enough to download Firefox and install it. I then showed her the difference between the two. She thought her Internet provider was acting up, or her computer was dying, and it was just IE8 being a pain in the butt. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: New computer problem - anyone else? From: Amos Date: 30 Jun 09 - 04:09 PM Yahoo has retired one of its primary nodes in the recent past, I forget which one. If all your problems are with Yahoo links you might have to re-find them. A |
